Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

G’day, Wheelizens!

I’m about as thrilled and delighted as teh Thread Kitteh at the prospect of a new week; wooooo!

Just for piss-off value, I’m going to call my County Commissioner’s office today to ask what he intends to do about Sheriff Son-Of-A-Butch using taxpayer funds to reimburse the feds for his $70K car. Not to mention lying about the purpose of the car when he applied to use asset forfeiture funds to purchase it.

The sheriff’s Hellcat application touted the high-powered vehicle’s potential use in Gwinnett’s Beat the Heat program, a nonprofit that uses drag races in controlled environments to “educate drivers about the dangers of distracted driving and illegal street racing.”

Uh huh.

The feds also took issue with part of the request that stated Conway would also use the car for undercover and covert operations.

The sheriff’s office defended the claim. It said that, in addition to driving the car to and from work, Conway uses it “when he participates in field operations, covert and otherwise, with our deputies.”

Well bless his entitled heart (and teensy little, erm, peckerwood).

That should be an interesting conversation, Fatwa.

MOnday. My favorite day of the week.

Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Hai, Sven!

I’ve decided to send an email for my initial contact with my Commissioner re this issue in order to ensure that my thoughts are less prone to being mischaracterized in any fashion. SackO’SugarK has opined many times that even when I’m not angry, my voice makes me somewhat intimidating due to its pitch and timbre; basically that I “sound scary” even when that isn’t my intent. I suspect that has happened to you, too, for similar reasons. 😉

To quote Winnie teh Pooh, “Oh, bother!”

Additionally, I like the thought of getting a “documented” response…if I actually receive one.

Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

It’s another beautiful day in paradise, with temperatures continuing in the 90’s.

Fatwa -- when I began teaching high school, I intentionally pitched my voice up and increased the “energy level” or “excitement level” to sound less intimidating.

The mask slips.

A Santa Barbara city councilman inadvertently let slip the primary purpose of progressivism in 21st century America.

The city recently criminalized the use of plastic straws. Speaking to that issue, Councilman Jesse Dominguez said, “Unfortunately, common sense is just not common. We have to regulate every aspect of people’s lives.”

That sounds about right. Sheesh.

Hit 105 here today and tomorrow is going to be hotter. Fires south in Orange County. So far, all is quiet by us, but don’t know if it will last.

We reached 102°F today. Not a good day to work in the garage.
We can see the flames from my neighborhood -- it’s in an area that Teh Older routinely hikes in, but we’re in no danger. It’s been spreading incredibly fast, but fortunately it’s moving away from homes. The fire is burning a few decades worth of “medium fuel” -- brush and some chaparral. Teh Older is looking forward to hiking the area next year, when the plants that require fire to propagate are growing.
