Cheers for your suggestion re pitching my voice up; unfortunately, doing so tends to make me sound odd. Plus, I have to really focus on doing it seamlessly.
I think I’m better off going with email for right now, as it’s documented. Given that politicians and their minions tend to be weasels -- and cowardly ones at that -- I’ll try written communication first.
The city recently criminalized the use of plastic straws. Speaking to that issue, Councilman Jesse Dominguez said, “Unfortunately, common sense is just not common. We have to regulate every aspect of people’s lives.”
I imagine that accommodations will be made for those with disabilities and such -- probably you’ll be able to apply for a permit if you can show an actual “need”.
Very concerned about Alex Jones -- whom I think is a nutter -- being de-platformed by Apple, YouTube, Facebook and Google yesterday. Suspect they picked him to test the waters because he is a nutter.
Yes, they’re all private companies, but I think an argument could be made that -- excepting Apple -- they are also like public utilities in that they’re largely monopolies as well.
I don’t like it, but I must think on this.
(I do think it’s a test run to see if they can get away with doing it to some candidates for public office in November, IYKWIMAITTYD.)
One issue that was brought up in congressional hearings was that of being a neutral platform. So long as they can claim that status, they can’t be held responsible for the views posted on their sites. I really think the DOJ should pursue this angle.
One of the comments on this was “Matrix glitch”; heh.
When a camera’s frame rate is in perfect sync with a helicopter’s rotors, the helicopter will appear to float as show in this video. pic.twitter.com/2aDVHGeppY
Good morning, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Today is expected to be the hottest of this most recent heat wave. Good. I’m getting tired of this.
I return to work on Friday, expecting a few weeks of online training classes and loads of paperwork and phone calls. Plus we have a two day “professional development” at the Burbank Marriott by the airport. I am soooo looking forward to that drive.
They are only flying people out of San Jose, Oakland, or Sacramento. If you live more than 90 miles away, they’ll spring for a room the night before the event. If you live more than 45 miles away, they’ll pay for a room for the night between the two days of the event (double occupancy). I live between 45 and 90 miles away, so at least it’s just one round trip.
OMFG! For grins and giggles I just checked Kayak to see what a flight from John Wayne to Burbank would be -- arriving in time for the training, then leaving the next day.
$1581
Southwest offers a flight, but it stops in Las Vegas first.
Good morning, Wheelizens!

Let the ADA lawsuits over straws begin!
And death to slavers.

“STRAW SQUAD! UP AGAINST THE WALL, WHEELCHAIR BOY! LET’S SEE THAT STRAW PERMIT!”

Agreed.

Hai, Paddy!
That would be nice…but Sessions seems to be a lazy AG on the important stuff. And I think the DOJ is packed with statist, partisan scum.
I can’t argue with you there.

Too bad you can’t just fly. 😉
