Fatwa Arbuckle: Misanthropologist

Happy Mid-Week Day, Wheelizens!

Funny how the Dems insist we “believe her”…except when it involves their guys like Clinton or Keith Ellison.

I wish the GOP would end this Kavanaugh charade and just confirm him. (As there appears to be no legitimate reason to not do so.) How the hell is the FBI supposed to “investigate” Ford’s accusation; she can’t remember where it happened, when it happened or who else was present.

Exactly how could an investigation occur without a single damned clue and after so many years? Plus, the Bureau is stuffed with partisan hacks, so we can’t believe a damned thing they might have to say regarding this matter anyway.

IMO, if the GOP caves on this, they’re toast in November. (Which I suspect is their plan, TBH.) Almost no one in our Congress gives a rat’s ass about the COTUS or the bulk of their constituents.

‘Cause what they do
In Washington
They just takes care
of NUMBER ONE
An’ NUMBER ONE ain’t YOU
You ain’t even NUMBER TWO

Hi, Fatwa, and happy Wednesday, GN!

I think the GOP is in a bind. Most of them are just politicians without firm conservative or any other values. They hate Trump and they hate even more those that elected him for doing so. They think that Trump is a fluke and if they can ride out the next two years, things will get back to normal. In many ways, they are hard to distinguish from the left/progressives/dems.

Kavanaugh is a watershed moment for them. They can either go all in on Kavanaugh, speak plainly and bluntly about what a sham this is, or they can continue with what’s worked in the past: equivocation. What’s truly sad about Republicans is that they would rather avoid a fight than actually win one. What they refuse to accept is that Trump won in most part because he was willing to fight and cared next to nothing about what the media thought about him -- they can’t see themselves adopting any of Trump’s tactics -- and that’s going to kill them in a couple of months.

The bind they find themselves in is caused by the mid-term elections: which posture, standing up or rolling over, will best ensure their reelection? My bet is the one that has their bare ass facing the sky. This may not be the worse that could happen -- it would just set the terms of the 2020 election rather starkly.

Off to teh bestest place ever -- the actions of Trump with tariffs are hitting us finally and there’s some panic and concern in the halls. Things be changin’.

Hey, Sven!

You’re right the GOP is in a bind; the reasons you listed are also some of the reasons I so intensely loathe that party. (Oddly, the GOPe is a big part of why Trump won, but they willfully refuse to understand that.)

I really hate that far too many voters are willing to settle for a carptastic choice between Team Blue tyrants and Team Red tyrants. Both teams refuse to follow the law their elected and appointed goons have sworn to uphold and defend and, by doing so, continue to make us less free and less prosperous.

Needs. Moar. Wood chippers.

Happy Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!

The latest Kavanaugh smear attempt (she refuses to testify unless something happens that clearly can’t happen) may be just the cover that quislings like Flake, Murkowski, and Collins have been looking for to vote no, along with the Dems up for re-election in Trump states.

If the Dems take the House in November, you can expect impeachment proceedings to begin soon thereafter.

Good call, Sven! It’s either that, or cabbage rose furniture. I always get those years confused.
