I took a class called Witnessing Whiteness and realized that racism is at the core of the problem of this country and that the only thing I can do is be an ally and show up and shut up.

Glad to see the rain in SoCal; I expect a fairly busy day (and hope that maybe a few folks with outstanding bids will get off their dimes).
Heaviest rain blew through a little while ago -- lasted about half an hour with strong winds. All of the LA County area is paralyzed as Mother Nature takes her revenge for something or other. We are such a bunch of sissies out here.
But it must be happening somewheres, Paddy. Else no stories to tell. Embarrassing though.
What we need is someone from our side to embed themselves with the coastal elite activist crowd so that maybe we could understand them better and not just write them off as blithering idiots worthy only of fingerpointing and snickers.
I have lots of friends who parrot the Leftist talking points. When pressed, they have nothing to back it up -- their knowledge is limited to the talking points they’ve heard or read. I really think the end game is the dissolution of our society, so that it can be rebuilt in the socialist style they prefer and desire.
Well, after a year and a half I finally got approval on my refinance yesterday so it is just a scramble now to finish details. I knew I would be hearing from an appraiser soon and hoped it would not be until the middle of next week with Elena back and the cats gone. I got a call at 9:45 this morning asking if she could come at 10:30. I was sitting there in my bath robe. Gentle friends, I am not the best housekeeper at the best of times, and this week I have been dealing with the cats, putting together papers for the loan, and dealing with plumbers (at least the guy that came yesterday was top drawer, I have a plumber to call now!). At least it is done now but I hope I don’t have to do that again. Elena will be unhappy about this but it did not look too bad. Will be interested to see the valuation. I think we are safe as he assumed a lower value than Zillow or the tax appraiser.
We should close on the 20th of December. It will be so nice to pay off all the medical bills that have been kicking my butt for a year and a half. I am tired but relieved. If it had not gone through I don’t know if we could have kept our house past next year.
