A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
May the love, joy, peace, and hope of this season be with you all, now and always!
Most of the family is down with their annual Christmas-time colds and sinus issues. I think I’ve got a handle on the sinus problems and sincerely hope the cold stays away.
Sorry to read that most of Clan O’F and Mrs. Sven have been hit with seasonal bugs.
SackO’SugarSnotK left work early on Thursday (which she almost never does) with same and is still feeling carpy.
Speedy recovery to all!
Earlier this morning, heard an unusual banging which seemed to be coming from the chimney. It wasn’t windy, so I went outside to investigate. Turns out there were two ginormous blackbirds up there doing something. A few seconds later, they flew off.
My best to gentle Brenda and the gentle Mrs, Sven. This seems to be a nasty one going around. It went around Elena’s family after Thanksgiving, including her, but her case wasn’t too bad.
I very rarely get sick and seem to have avoided it again.
Brenda sends her regards backatcha; glad you dodged the HellColdFlu bullet this year; I’m hoping for the same.
When we did our refi a few years ago, nearly everything was done online and over the phone; USAA sent an attorney to CasaK one evening for all the signatures / initials. It was very easy on us.
I suspect this sort of thing is more common these days; a lot cheaper than messengering docs, etc. (I’ll ask my Best Man who was a commercial RE loan officer many years ago and recently bought a new home.)
Something a little strange to me on this refinance, the trip to the escrow company to sign the closing documents on Friday was my only visit. I have made only a couple before but this time everything was done online and with a few phone calls. I guess the benefit of dealing with the same loan officer, or is that common now?
For whatever reason, I woke up this morning with this song playing in my head from Rossington-Collins -- Pine Box.
A couple of years after the plane crash, Lynyrd Skynyrd reformed as the Rossington-Collins Band. To avoid any comparisons to Ronnie Van Zant, they purposely chose a woman as lead vocalist: Dale Krantz. They put out a couple of albums around 1980 -- I know I saw them in Reseda at Wolf & Rismiller’s County Club, but now I’m not sure if it was R-C or The Rossington Band. Sheesh. Anyhow, here you go:
Don’t give me no cold pine box
Don’t dig me a hole
‘Cause when I feel my savior talk
It strengthens my soul
The pain of death is loose from me
Death has no toe-hold
A pine box can’t hold me down
My ground can’t get cold
You’re welcome, Paddy. It was a good tune from their second album -- just the vocals. Dale Krantz was a little thing, still is as far as I know altho she married Gary Rossington maybe 25 years ago is now Dale Krantz Rossington. Still sings backup vocals for LS.
Here’s a little bit more that showcases her vocals -- three songs including what was the band’s only hit -- Don’t Misunderstand Me at around the 5 minute mark- which really is a good tune.

Hi, Paddy -- happy Sunday, GN!
Hope the cold passes you by -- Mrs Sven is sick and down for the count for at least another day. I blame Trump.
G’day, Wheelizens!
Hiya, Paddy and Sven!

I hope they were using protection while they were banging on your chimney.
Hahahahahahahaaa!
I couldn’t tell if they used a cawndom.
Before they flue away?
Well-played, sir.
Brenda’s groaning at our punning.
(Actually, it may be from the cold, but she said, “puns exacerbate the horror”.) 😉
Heh! She said ex ass her bate! (Sorry, I sometimes spell phonetically)
Heh. Mac, you always surprise me.

I love the simplicity and honesty of their sound. Thanks, Sven!

For Sven and TeX:
Heh. Funny how well it matches up.
