Thanks for the factoid about raptors; I’d never heard that, either.
Absolutely amazing. If you don’t live in CA, you ought to be furious with this arrogance.
Trust me…I am.

LambiePieK picked-up the Yukon last night and drove it to work this morning. Aside from setting off the alarm at 06:20 (which I’m sure enthralled teh neightbors) and having a hard time finding the emergency brake release (it’s one of those “step on it to release it” types), she said it was fun to drive.
While it doesn’t have the same acceleration as the Crown Vic (which had the “pursuit package” as a former LE vehicle), she said it makes up for that with sheer brute power. And she likes sitting higher above the road, which is one of the reasons she was looking at pickups.
I think an SUV is a more practical vehicle for her than a pickup. And I’m very happy about her driving a newer, significantly lower mileage vehicle.
Since it only came with one key and no fobs, we’ll need to get those items sorted out. Brenda already ordered a couple of fobs (way cheaper than getting them from a dealer), but we’ll have to pay to have them programmed. Apparently some modern vehicles can program replacement fobs; hers isn’t one of them. 🙁
The manual was in it, so we’re both gonna have to give it a read; lots of bells and whistles common to newer autos with which we’re not familiar.
Okay…back to paperwork. Sure hope I can rope-in a couple of big jobs this year!!1!
Hey, Fatwa! Congrats on the new vehicle! I remember re-programming a fob for my 1999 Isuzu Trooper. Turn the key from off to on 3 times in 5 seconds, open and close the driver’s door three times in 5 seconds, press the lock and unlock buttons, tune in NPR on the radio, sing the Wisconsin fight song, then place an order for nigiri at your local sushi joint.
When I worked at Alesis, one of my perks was getting to be a beta tester (and keeping the beta unit, which my engineering buddies would happily upgrade repeatedly even after the product release). We we were expected to do anything short of complete destruction “to make it not work”.
I used to have fun trying to f*ck-up the software with random button-pushing / holding / knob-turning. The programmers were middlin’ fond of Easter eggs; I had a fair amount of luck discovering them.
One of my favorites was “QUIT TRYING TO FIND EASTER EGGS!!”. (They were “meta” when “meta” wasn’t cool…)
Huh. The hugest storm of the season has so far failed to materialize in all its dreaded wetness. Looks like it maybe slowed down and will materialize overnight or tomorrow. Or not all?
Yeah, they bumped that up. 1-4 inches beginning around 6:00 AM tomorrow. Winds are picking up out here. Hopefully all the trees stay in the ground where they belong!
That sucks, Paddy -- here’s hoping it’s of the short duration variety. Have you mailed your ZOG check for this month? In addition to the weather, I hear the Jooooooos also have some influence with disease and ailments.
Huh. The power of a dark spec on the floor.
Happy Flip-your-Cat Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!
Those are areas of increased gravitation, like black holes.
Teh Younger got the HellColdFlu a few days ago, so of course now I’ve got it.
Yippee-skippee
I am sorry to hear that, Paddy. Please take care.
Thank you, Mac. Fortunately, I only have one meeting this morning to cough my way through.
Good morning, gentle Gerbils.
Good morning, Sven, Paddy and Mac!
Paddy --
Hope you and Teh Younger recover quickly.

*Schnort!*

Very cool -- less worry when she is out and about.
Exactly right, Sven.
(Because despite the fact Brenda is a highly competent individual who was all growed-up with an adult daughter by the time I met her, I do worry. )
Can’t help myself. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Looks like to start in the SFV in the next two hours with a total of about 1.5″ through early Friday.

*facepalm*
I knew I forgot something!
Hi, Mac.
