Since they technically work for the citizenry, we ought to be able to…if we can get a critical mass of voters on-board. From a practical standpoint, I think it would be a tough sell.
*Tsk*
You’ll recall that my idea to make Congress more like the WWE (every member has to adopt a “character” and wear a spandex costume) didn’t get much traction, either. I think “GovernTainment” is still too far ahead of its time. OTOH, there are a lot more outlets for programming these days…perhaps it is time for “C-SPAN Raw”. (A disturbing concept on many levels.) 👿
Happy WTF® Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning , Fatwa!
My boss asked me yesterday if I could schedule English testing for a student. It seems she is supposed to take the test today, but has speech-to-text as an accommodation. Well, you can’t have one student in the testing room talking all the time, so we need to arrange testing at the home, a library, or some other place. I talked with mom yesterday and she was going to look into the local public library for next Thursday. I get a text this morning -- the library only reserves study rooms for 2 hour blocks. Maybe she could find someplace else for today. Hey lady, just an FYI -- with traffic it will take me about 2 hours to get to your place in LA (plus, I was really hoping to get my oil changed today, before driving out to Palm Springs next week). I also suggested we could use the 2 hour block at the library for the writing portion of the test -- the only part she’d use speech-to-text -- then a quiet spot in the library for the multiple choice. Haven’t heard back yet. Somehow I don’t think I’m going to get my oil changed today -- and probably won’t do the testing, either.
Finally got the testing scheduled -- 11 a.m. next Thursday.
Managed to get my oil changed. I usually go to my local mechanic (I was also going to get the tires rotated -- easy when the car is on the lift), but because of time constraints I hit up the local quick oil change place. It’s fast, convenient, and you pay for that with all the upselling. I’ve got a K&N lifetime air filter, so they couldn’t get me there, so they asked if I had the cleaning kit for it (I don’t, but it won’t need cleaning for another 15K miles or more). Next was the transmission fluid replacement that they said Honda recommends (they don’t), then the 12,000 mile fuel system cleaner. No thanks. You should rotate your tires -- no thanks. I’ll do that one myself.
Is it Robot Scorpion Friday already? Teh Yay!

Hi, Paddy --
Sounds like Mom’s quite the feckless feckwad; bah!
Hope you can get something useful accomplished today…
