Nice that Sven’s new Betsy Ross flag will arrive sooner rather than later.
We watched Trump’s speech last night and -- a bit surprisingly -- thought it was mostly pretty good. Definitely not campaign-oriented despite the “reeeeeeing” from certain quarters.
This may be a day late; but it’s not a dollar short:
Doesn’t feel like a workday, but it is. Sniff. Should be a quiet one though as most folks will take advantage of a Thursday holiday and make a 4-day weekend out of it. And off I go with a smile on my face and a song in my heart!
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, Mac, and Sven!
We had a very nice Independence Day at Casa du O’Furnijur. We had a few people over, I barbecued a couple of tri-tips, we lit off a few CA legal (but not legal in my city) fireworks, and watched several professional displays from the comfort of our backyard.
Hello, impish Mac, smilin’ Sven and pyrotechnician Paddy!
Doesn’t feel like a workday, but it is.
Sadly, that is so; feh.
I’ll bet Paddy’s tri-tips were delicious; hope the rest of you ate well, too.
We were feeling lazy (in part due to the heat/humidity), so I just pan-fried a couple of cheddar burgers and didn’t have to deal with the elements.
FWIW, Walmart’s Great Value (house-branded) sharp cheddar slices melt pretty well, taste good on burgers and -- at least around here -- are an excellent price performer.
Still amazed at the sort of fireworks which are GA legal under the regs which were loosened-up a couple of years ago. (Now if only they’d do something about the stupidly-draconian hemp laws…)
Happy Friday, Wheelizens!
Is teh thread critter’s name “Old Scratch”? 👿

That was a long earthquake. We felt the shaking for over 1 minute. No idea of the magnitude or location yet.
Edit: CalTech is saying a 7.1 in the same location as yesterday.
Felt that one here too, Paddy. Unusual. Like you said, long one.
First reports are 7.1 in the same area as the other.
The USGS website is slammed.
11 miles from Ridgecrest.
Now down to a 6.9
And back to a 7.1
