Was watching some young fully committed progressive girl on CSPAN this morning and this thought occurred to me. If you firmly believe that climate change is dooming the planet, then you should be fully in favor of shutting down our borders and not allowing any immigrants into America. Why? Using Mexico as an example, our carbon footprint is 16 times larger than Mexico’s. Any new immigrants from Mexico into America will harm the planet 16 times more than leaving them in Mexico. Science.
My Mac is still restarting randomly, although the various procedures I’ve gone through have significantly reduced the instances of that.
Got to the “OK…let’s try reinstalling the OS” point and found there’s some “missing component” which prevents my doing that. (One of my beefs with MacOS is the frequent lack of information such as an error code when something goes south.) Wish Apple still made install disks available, but they don’t. Last time I upgraded the OS, I didn’t make a bootable backup, which might not be of any help with this issue anyway.
Fortunately, we’ve got a competent repair shop nearby; guess I’ll take it in Tuesday. Sure glad I bought a used Macbook for L.A. trips a few years back. And do a weekly backup of critical files to a portable drive in addition to automatic Time Machine backups onto a second drive inside the desktop.
Can’t really gripe; I’ve been using Macs for thirty years with long useful lives and amazingly few problems I couldn’t solve relatively easily.
Brenda still occasionally baits me with the phrase “Mac ‘tard”.
However, when Windows -- from which she admits to making a good living -- screws-up royally, she’ll occasionally admit that perhaps, in some ways, MacOS is a better operating system.
I suspect what’s causing the restarts is some sort of “kernel panic”, a Unix-y thing I really don’t know more about than it’s a “fatal internal error”.
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven-teh-first, and Fatwa!
A morning that begins with a Plague Fairy sighting -- even if I wasn’t hear to partake of it -- is a good morning, indeed! All is right with the world. Thank you, dv8, for rejoining our little community. You and your lovely bride are cherished friends.
“I felt strange as soon as the anesthesia started to wear off,” Steenburgen said. “The best way I can describe it is that it just felt like my brain was only music, and that everything anybody said to me became musical. All of my thoughts became musical. Every street sign became musical. I couldn’t get my mind into any other mode.”
What a treat seeing Miss Harper here again!
Like most things cat, I don’t understand their commandants either.

Happy Prophetic Pussycat Sunday, GN!

Still…resser-fresser.
It restarts by itself? Huh. Never had that problem with my Window’s machine!
Bite me.
Sir. (Don’t wish to be rude.)

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Good morning, Fatwa and Paddy.
Chores. The other “c” word.
BTW, nice update on the site text under the site name.
Mrs Sven sent this on:

Thanks for posting that; I was completely unaware of Steenburgen’s experience.
Must have been freaky as hell for her. Props to her for submitting songs under a pseudonym instead of trading on her name.
Just read that story. Wow, is that strange, eh?
I’m listening to the song she co-wrote for Wild Rose -- good stuff. Not Patsy Cline, but a darn good ballad.
Looks like my payment to ZOG is finally coming through -- rain Tuesday after a 90 degree dry Monday.
Rain. That’s what I like. I wish it rained more up here.
