Happy “If I Fits, I Sits” Kitteh Sunday, Wheelizens!
Sven — here’s hoping for the cat food option — canned, not dry.
We joke about “retirement cat food” here at CasaK, too, ’cause it’s a way of dealing with our own concerns. (Too bad all of that SS withholding wasn’t actually invested in mutual funds or something similar. But hey, we bought Beeyotch Pelosi some fancy pens, a lot of military flights and a sht-tonne of top shelf booze…)
Maaaaaan…I wonder what’s gonna happen in Richmond, VA tomorrow. Seems like there’s a lot of potential for bad things to occur. (All of which I will lay at the feet of Gov. Blackface; what a POS.)
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!
Speaking of Social Security -- when I was self-employed, for most years I didn’t make enough to meet the SS minimum income requirements (although I still had to pay both portions of SS withholding). The upshot is I don’t have enough quarters of credit to keep my SS (if there is any) from being reduced significantly by my teachers’ retirement and I won’t have enough years of teaching to earn a decent retirement from that system.
It’s interesting, but hardly surprising, that among our friends no one is planning on spending their Golden Years in California. Our next door neighbors have chosen Lewiston Idaho as their destination three years out. My oldest friend has settled on Boise Idaho and leaving in two years. My brother right now is looking at Prescott AZ and a one year bug out plan. We’ll consider all three locations, but I want to investigate Marble Falls TX.
A colleague when I worked at Hughes Aircraft, after much research, chose Prescott as his retirement location. Mrs. Paddy would like to look at both Asheville and Lake Junaluska, NC. I really hate to give up our home, especially after we’ve put all this work into it, but our money would go much farther, elsewhere.

You would have thought that Pelosi could have found pens with enough ink to write more than one letter each.
Good morning Fatwa and Paddy -- happy Sunday, GN!
Looking at retirement, our financial advisor thinks we are OK; at least OK enough to add brand label cat food to our ramen up to 5 days a week!

When making those all important GTFO of California plans, multiple factors should be considered.
1) Weather: Prescott is pretty nice weather wise. Much cooler than Phoenix.
2) Proximity to services: There is a plague fairy about a half hour north of Prescott, I hear : )
