Yep. There are several authors whose books I used to purchase in new dead-tree versions just to put a few shekels in their pockets from time-to-time; now I wait several months -- or years -- after publication and buy ’em used.

There are a few I’ve quit reading entirely because they’ve become so strident I can’t get past that to simply enjoy their writing. Sad!
It’s kind of a Get Woke Go Broke sort of thing. It’s harder to suspend ones disbelief for a story when you hear more wacky politics from the author than about their characters. They put it in their stories and in any interview or public appearance.
I try to be understanding because I know that much time, effort, and money must be spent in their brainwashing. I understand that creative people are easily deceived. But ultimately, I’m just like you and Sven and many others. I just stop buying what they’re selling. Literally, not figuratively. Well… figuratively also.
It’s interesting though when it backfires. In a biography of Humphrey Bogart, called “Tough Without a Gun.” there is an account of Mr. Bogart jumping on some leftist bandwagon or other. I don’t remember the subject. But he somehow found out he was being deceived, and was very angry about it. And publicly denounced the Marxist disinformationists behind the attempt to deceive him.
I wonder how soon it will be before the I-need-attention class decides it’s cool to be infected by the coronavirus and starts faking it? The latest badge of victimhood and oppression, sure to garner much social media sympathy and applause for bravery.

Sven -- excellent point about the victim-class. I give it maybe a week. By the end of the month things may start calming down, and you wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity.
We haven’t been hit here with the virus, yet. Stores still seem pretty normal. But we just received word that our church is suspending all Sunday services world wide. And a few days ago, the big General Conference that they have a couple of times a year has been switched to virtual only. (it’s always virtual but normally there is the ability to attend it in person, but not this time--satellite and internet only)
This is only two weeks after I decided to avoid crowds and thus not attend church meetings.

Just home from an aborted vittles run. Ridiculous lines at both Kroger and Walmart; massively worse than anything I’ve ever seen on Christmas Eve day or Thanksgiving Eve day.
Didn’t bother shopping (as -- thanks to BrendaK -- we’ve a very well-stocked larder); I’ll try again on Monday.
Got-dayum the media and their nasty butt-buddies the Democrats for inciting panic. And the same to all of my fellow citizens who bought their BS.
Since Mrs. A is working from home today, I picked up some spicy Chick-Fil-A sammies for lunch; mmmmmmm….hate chicken.
Teh bestest place ever just announced the closing of its corporate headquarters -- that’s about 800 of us -- and we will try to work remote for the next two weeks. I was looking forward to some quiet time here, but Mrs Sven’s company just did the same -- that’s about 1200 people. Let the battle over home bandwidth begin!
