A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Mac, and Plaguie!
dv8 -- getting packages is (almost) always a goodness.
I spoke yesterday with a long-time friend who lives in northern Utah. With the replacement of in-person worship services with televised and online services I remarked that he’s now spending his Sunday mornings watching a televangelist.
Happy Sunday, GN. Things now getting a little more out of control in CA: Gov. Newsom orders all bars closed; Californians over 65 should self-isolate at home.
He’s basically threatening the state with martial law if we don’t “voluntarily” comply with his edicts.
If a Republican governor did this, the media would be screaming fascism, but since he’s a Dem, they are falling over themselves praising him for his “leadership”.
Understatement of the year: “The complete shutdown of LA’s restaurants and bars will have a dramatic effect on life in Los Angeles, from the loss of income for restaurant and bar workers to the likely permanent closure of many establishments.”
I watched part of the press conference -- Newsome seems to understand that shutting down restaurants would cause economic harm, but doesn’t think that shutting down bars and brew pubs will. What’s even worse is the number of people commenting positively on his “leadership”.
Teh Younger is off for the next week -- all of his work shifts were canceled due to school closures -- so he’s going to a favorite local brewery for lunch tomorrow, then BevMo to pick up beer.
I should have spent today readying my home office for tomorrow’s remote work week kickoff, but then I thought why the hell should I spend my personal time doing that? I also considered buying a new monitor and keyboard to make my life easier, but then my better half kicked in. Fuck it.
Well Garcetti in Los Angeles just ordered the closing of all movie theaters, bars, nightclubs, and dine-in restaurants effective tonight. I wonder where LA’s 50,000 homeless will go to dumpster dive?
That’s Brutal!
Et, tu?

“Still Not Panicky” Sunday greetin’s, GN
Hi, Mac, Plaguie (too soon?) and Paddy!
A hearty “heh” to all three of you.
Also: Any salad is a Caesar salad if you stab it enough.
Trash Pandas don’t get a vote. 😉
Obligatory: Damn the hoarding hordes and most of our media.
Gotta go buy a pallet of “bath tissue”; BRB. 👿

In Los Angeles, they are also close to shutting down all dine-in restaurants.

Got gas, got money, went to the bar.
I don’t believe I’m panicking, but these measures are striking me all wrong.

I’m so proud.
You taught him well, Paddy.

Good decisions, Sven, good decisions.

And just what is he going to do if they refuse?

I do wonder if LA is shutting down, such as it is, their mass transit system of trains and buses.
