Also glad that (apparently) no LEOs have had cause to check your registration paperwork against the VIN on your vehicle — which could have, um , unpredictable results.
This also occurred to me. I haven’t gotten so much as pulled over in five years or more. But you never know.
I really (don’t) have to go see an attorney. (But I want to just for drill.) I’m not sure this rises to the level of legal action, it would feel like excess on my part.
That being said, When I we got down to Scottsdale, I discovered a few things.
One the other new car looked kinda shabby--missing an antenna, and needing a detail. Also it was not white like my current car. it was Silver which does not survive well in the Arizona sun and was already showing signs of degradation from having sat on the lot for a year.
I have a text record of them telling me the color and options and year of the car were the same, but since they didn’t even check the color, how do I really know that without going through the thing myself?
one guy immediately took my licence plate and put it on the other car. But when he stepped away for a few minutes, I removed the plate and kept it along with my registration.
I then told them I’d rather keep the car I had. Then they lied again to me and told me I’d have to come back on Monday. and not a day later. This now was the sales manager. And… well you know they never give an inch unless you get in your car and leave. But he even threatened to “report” the car stolen. He actually threatened me in front of a witness (Chuck) who is a church deacon, by the way. It was ridiculous and totally unnecessary. I asked him if this was the point I should be getting an attorney involved.
I have it in writing that they could do all the paperwork for the car I have, through the mail. It is on my phone along with all the other lies and possible lies they told me.
Anyway…. I only went on the trip because it sounded like an adventure, and that’s why I didn’t just say lets do the paperwork on the car I have (which I’m sure was NOT a lie at the time.)
anyway, I’m going to go to an attorney up here that was recommended to me a while back. We’ll see if he thinks there’s anything I should do, and/or if each one of these lies is worth some money to me.
I’ll let all y’all know. Sorry for not letting everyone know about this yesterday, I was just too weary of it to think about.
Also, on the way down, we noticed that the return traffic on I-17 was all backed up for about 50 miles or so. So when we got ready to leave, we decided to go through Prescott, which is a much longer and more interesting drive.
Chuck and I had fun talking about all manner of things on the trip. I really did have a great time.
Also, as soon as I got into “my” car and started the engine, the sales manager, in true sales manager fashion, came running over and told me we could indeed try to do everything through the mail. and offered to fill my tank up, which I declined.
They are all lucky I’m not a Democrat, or I’d be leaving them bad Yelp reviews and such. Still, they must be out of their mind to try and strong-arm a customer which they have already inconvenienced to such an extent.
Oh boy…another Monday!! Could my week possibly get any better?? 😉

Very sorry to read that your Kia dealer is asshoe and staffed with prevaricating carpsacks; glad you had a witness with you, have a text record and that you’re speaking with an attorney. Hope you find that you have some good legal leverage under AZ and/or federal law.
Does the VIN on the vehicle match your paperwork? Also…and this is kind of a stretch -- have you run a CarFax or similar check on the VIN(s)?
Kia corporate may be another place to turn for assistance; sure seems like there’s something hinky about that dealership.
They are all lucky I’m not a Democrat, or I’d be leaving them bad Yelp reviews and such.
Well, it’s not like they don’t deserve a good old-fashioned social media ass-whuppin’; good to have options (even if you don’t have to use that one).
Really hope they get you sorted today -- including a groveling apology -- without you needing to get the lawbaws and/or AZ AG’s office involved.
1) The sales manager threatened you with filing a false police report re a vehicle you purchased in good faith from those bastards. That’s a potentially life-threatening situation; why on earth would they do that? (Occam’s Razor says the dealership seriously cocked-up on something; I don’t know enough to hazard a wild-ass guess as to what that might be, but it sure seems like panicked, ass-covering move on their part.)
2) If I were you, I would not communicate with the dealership via any method until after you’ve spoken with the attorney. Ignore any calls, emails, texts, etc. Ignoring any attempts to reach you may yield additional data. And it does not seem unreasonable to refuse to communicate with a business who threatened to report a crime which you DID NOT COMMIT.
This sounds like good advice to me. I have read of misconduct in dealing with claimed mistakes like this. I was concerned when I heard this but did not want to stick my oar in, I knew you are wise in this and you clearly were. Their conduct would alarm me, they will clearly lie to police to get an advantage or cover their butts. I think consulting a lawyer would be prudent before proceeding. Can you trust any paperwork they “fix”?
Sorry about the recycled threat images. I don’t know how long the photobucket issues will continue so these seemed better than the placeholders. I have put up threads through 17 June as I may be distracted after Elena’s surgery. I should be back on the job before then but if nothing shows up a couple of days before would someone please cover? Of course please feel free to replace any of my threads with your own if inspired to do so. No problem at all.
Dv8: I agree with Fatwa and Mac -- for whatever odd reason, this dealership brought you back under false pretenses and then escalated the situation. It’s curious, but also perhaps serious. See that attorney.
The George Floyd Memorial Tour begins its final two-day stint in Houston today. SRO, although there should be enough space for the white people attending to kneel and/or prostrate themselves as they beg for forgiveness.
Hot and windy out here -- Red Flag warnings in effect. Small brush fire earlier that got knocked down.
Because every bat-soup eating cretin has an Instagram, Twitter, YouTube or WTF bullhorn.
FFS, even on reddit, “influencers” are getting called out for mid-“peaceful protest” selfies.
Sheesh. Saw photos of the Dems kneeling down for 9 minutes wearing African accessories so they can show their support for BLM and dismantling the police. Sad. Pathetic. Disgusting.
And anyone that continues to invoke Michael Brown’s name, looking at you Pelosi, as a martyr lost to police brutality has lost me completely.
Along with the Santa Ana winds come the wildfires. There are two close enough to be noticed on the wind. One is near Lake Elsinore -- 40 acres, but 0% contained in a steep canyon -- and one near Lake Matthews -- 100 acres and 20% contained.
Hey Gerbils!

IANAL, but have another couple of thoughts:
1) The sales manager threatened you with filing a false police report re a vehicle you purchased in good faith from those bastards. That’s a potentially life-threatening situation; why on earth would they do that? Just my (paranoid) $0.02.

G’day, Mac!
Hope that you and Elena (and family) are all well.
Also that you’re not experiencing any significant “supply chain” issues with critical stuff.
Supplies of most things here are a lot better than a month ago. And local protests have been pretty quiet (if stupid, which I can live with).
That said, I’ve never been more glad to, shall we say, be able to intimidate any potential malefactors. 👿

Her surgery is June 14?
June 10, Sir. In two days.
Thanks, Mac. Wishing her and you all the best.
Yes Mac, Best wishes for Little Mouse.
Happy Monday, GN!

Amused, but saddened as the Drew Bree’s Apology Tour features his wife next. Read the whole thing.

Oh FFS.
Seconded.
Why are people such farking cowards?
(We have middle fingers for a reason.)

Happy Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8, Fatwa, Mac, and Sven!
You do have interesting adventures, don’t you, dv8? Fatwa and Mac have offered some sound advice. It sure sounds like something’s up.
Makes me wonder if something was hidden in the car that they accidentally sold to you.
Hadn’t thought of that possibility.
Wonder if it was made in Kia’s Pesquería, Nuevo León factory?
(Maaaaaan…that’s so paranoid. OTOH, even paranoiacs have real enemies.)
Signs of the times, I guess. Looking at the MSN.com home page and one of their sections has this quiz question:
Q: What event prompted the US to enter WWII?
1. Bombing of Pearl Harbor
2. Battle of Britain
3. Invasion of Poland
Really?
Everybody knows the correct answer is:
4) The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
Well played, sir!

Cultural appropriation much? Kente cloth is specific to the Ghanaian people, especially the Ashanti tribe. Do Dems think all Blacks look alike?
