I hope that Elena’s healing is progressing well, and the same goes for Mac now too!
Reading Sven’s posts, I’ve been feeling the same way. Some moments I’m wishing for a crystal ball, and others I’m bargaining with G_d for a happy ending.
I was with the neighborhood walking group on Wednesday, and trying a new route, and we came to the turnaround point.
I *could* have picked up my pace and joined the head of the procession for a longer walk, but the discussion up there was BLM.
I opted to turnaround.
I wonder what John Ringo thinks about CHAZtopia? It reads almost like a chapter from his book, “The Last Centurion” -- thankfully without the heavy weaponry.
With that, I think I’m going to jump on Eric the Half-a-Blade and mow the lawn while it’s still breezy and cool(ish)-feeling.
Happy Caturday, GerbilNation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and TeX!
Fatwa -- good luck on the job and with the know-it-all. At least you’ve been given both warning and permission.
TeX -- I understand how you feel. With some people (like my brother) I long ago stopped engaging with their stupidity (pigs and singing), with others I give it a try, but the pig reference keeps coming back.
Hope the “lawn moaning” goes easily; is there a story I missed behind Eric the Half-a-Blade’s name? (Also: heh!)
Minneapolis / St. Paul and Seattle really need a taxpayer’s revolt re all revenue to those municipalities from sales, payroll and other taxes; put those monies in an escrow account but don’t let the cities have it until they fix their shit.
Ditto all fines (traffic / parking tickets, leash law violations, grass too long, etc…all the myriad ways they extort money from their citizens. If enough people participate, how are they gonna enforce collections? And who will those cities use as their “enforcers”?
This morning. Swelling above the eye is down some but a bit puffy around the eye. Darker bruising around both knees, especially the right. Less headache than yesterday.
Elena is doing well, she finally slept well last night and she is using less pain meds than allowed. The hydrocodone was so bad for her system she stopped it yesterday morning and went to tramadol which is not as strong, but it is working and she has no problem with it, so if she can continue she should do well. It was a great relief to see her doing so much better this morning. It is hard to believe the difference from just yesterday morning. Her sister is still staying with her and has taken very good care of her. She needs to get back to her work tomorrow but Elena is doing well enough she should be fine. The sister made a huge difference for her.
I’m glad you’re both healing well, Mac! Good news!
“…is there a story I missed behind Eric the Half-a-Blade’s name?”
Sadly, the funniest thing about Eric’s story is his name.
My mower, that came with the house for an extra $200, was the flower of late 70s power and design just completely gave out one day. Done.
We found a used one, but as it is with cars in some families, so it is with mowers in ours. Mr. TeX got the newer version, and I got his old one.
There’s a wobble to the deck when the blades are spinning, so a single pass leaves a 6″-wide mohawk right down the middle. It’s labeled as a 42″ deck, too.
Happy Scary Kitteh Caturday, Wheelizens!
‘Struth, Mac.
Jim has briefly met the gentleman in question; apparently he’s a know-it-all type who is more knowledgeable about every vendor’s trade than they are.
We’ve dealt with more than a couple of them over the years; glad to have “special dispensation” to deal with this one appropriately. 👿

Happy Saturday Morning EveryGerbillyBody!

Hi, TeX and Paddy!

I don’t know the story so I was just a bit relieved when I realized she was talking about the lawn mower and not Mr. X !
The images in my mind.
Naughty Mac!

I’m glad to hear that both you and Little Mouse are doing better! Family is a goodness, whether they are related to you, or not.
I’m glad you’re both healing well, Mac! Good news!

So, yeah. Eric the Half-a-Blade.
I think the black eye gives your face more character, Mac. Glad that Elena is doing better -- you two take care of yourselves.
