Sorry to read about Mac’s knee stuff; heal fast. Same to TeX.
Woke up around 2:00 a.m. with neck / shoulder issues and took a BC headache powder; ugh. (But it allowed me to go back to bed for a few hours.)
====================
Really pissed-off that JimCo’s got some liability claims against us over a few construction defects we, erm, “discovered” on the most recent project. Don’t think they’re gonna get much traction, but it’s a lot of (unfortunately necessary) work on my part to respond.
I hope the old bastard whom I’m 99% sure is “driving that bus” quite literally drops dead. (He’s the one our foreman called “a piece of shit” and was a complete PITA during the entire project.)
=====================
Also disgusted Ol’ Plugs (or -- more likely -- his controllers) selected Kamala the Kop for his veep. I think that’s going to get ugly very quickly and it should; she’s a loathsome individual.
Sadly, given the way the law works in CA, my gut feeling is that JimCo’s gonna get sodomized to some degree or other after this shit drags out for months…or years.
Mr. TeX got caught up in a construction defect lawsuit once -- they hit every contractor (as you know), but his experience was they cleared him and a couple of the others very quickly once the “investigation” portion started.
I hope it goes as smoothly for y’all and JimCo.
Happy awwww-cute! Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Mac!
Fatwa -- sorry to hear about the project issues. That sucks, big time. Unfortunately you’re right about CA law. If one party isn’t open to reasonable discussion, it can drag out interminably.
Mac -- have you considered a bubble-wrap suit? Seriously though, as we get older we need to be more aware of our surroundings, footing, etc. We don’t bounce back the way we used to.
I think it was someone on AoSHQ who said, never vote for someone who knows what Willie Brown tastes like.
During JimCo’s previous legal adventure, even the inspector statist tool from the SoCal AQMD was shocked and dismayed we were actually sued, given the material facts. (But he was unwilling to go on record about it, so fuck him with a white-hot poker.)
I’m sorry to hear about the double injury to your knee, Mac. Heal fast².
Yeah, I’m still not 100% -- even my neighbor who delivers hay thought I looked a little wonky still. Yesterday. I’m sure my new driver’s license will look just swell.

We’ve got heat warnings for the rest of the week, so I’ll be indoors as much as possible. AND I had to take my car to the stealer ‘cuz I think the A/C is draining into the passenger side footwell. Makes me glad I upped the warranty to 10 years/100K miles when I bought it in 2012.
And ‘den! COBRA’s running out, so I spent a good couple of hours effing around there. But kudos to the customer service people. Nice and a wait of under 10 minutes? I’ll take it.
It’s been enough of a day, so I’m couch-bound.
*mwah!* y’all
Thanks for dropping by, TeX. Yeah, I’m not surprised you’re still feeling less than 100%. Give yourself of week of taking it easy (or at least not pushing it), hydrating, and keeping up with the electrolytes. Yeah, it really does take that long when you go past a certain point.
Your A/C drain line is probably plugged with all sorts of Texas algae/fungus/crud. Hopefully the stealer can just blow out the line.
One of the helicopters that supports the the movement of the president and other senior government officials to and from Andrews Air Base was fired on today during a low-altitude training mission. An airman was injured, but has been treated and released.
Lake Hughes fire about 40 miles(?) north of us is burning out of control. Angeles National Forest. Up to 7,000 acres in 3 hours. The smoke plume is over 20,000 feet tall -- easily visible from here.
Hot temp alerts here with the worse to hit over the weekend. Summer. Yuk.

“We could redefine ‘journalist’ to someone who is authorized by the ACLU,” Simon said, Courthouse News Service reported. “The ACLU could maintain a list of who they are giving vests to and give them appropriate guidance and instructions. That way we might be able to solve the problem of somebody just putting ‘press’ on their helmet or their shirt.”
I just learned that a young man I knew from my time working with the high school students at my church has committed suicide. His beloved wife lost her battle with cancer at the end of March and apparently he never recovered from that loss. He was a gentle giant and I’d like to ask for prayers for Mike, his family, and all those who knew and loved him.
G’day, GN!

BBL.
Well damn! That didn’t take long. I hope it gets sorted out quickly.
Hi, Mac!
Thanks for the well-wishes.
Sadly, given the way the law works in CA, my gut feeling is that JimCo’s gonna get sodomized to some degree or other after this shit drags out for months…or years.
FML.

Now there’s a visual for you.
Hi Fatwa and Paddy and Mac -- good morning, GN!
Will we get through the day without any cameltoe jokes?
I’m sure there’s stats out there, but I wonder how highly CA ranks in terms of numbers of lawsuits filed?
I don’t know about number of lawsuits filed, but various polls put CA at #47 or #48 in terms of litigiousness and legal environment.
There’s another shocker.
BTW, that’s a nice thread pic, Mac.
Hi, Paddy and Sven!
During JimCo’s previous legal adventure, even the
inspectorstatist tool from the SoCal AQMD was shocked and dismayed we were actually sued, given the material facts. (But he was unwilling to go on record about it, so fuck him with a white-hot poker.)I tried to watch some of the Biden/Harris event, but couldn’t stomach it.
Was there sniffing involved?
Not on camera, but her hair did look a little like someone may have slobbered on it.
Any further comments may get me a reproving look from Mac.
And TeX.
And BrendaK.

Good luck with the health insurance!

Probably some drunk white supremacist in a pickup truck.

Welcome to fire season. Let’s pray it isn’t as bad as some recent years.
Why isn’t Kamala Harris the first Indian-American to run as VP? If I were an Indian, I’d be a bit miffed.

An Obama appointee -- of course.

That is so sad.
Prayers sent.
