Good morning, Fatwa -- happy Sunday, GN. Supposed to be a little cooler here today -- we topped 110 yesterday for a while. Stupidly, I was doing some work outside -- yeah, not as young as I used to be.
Fires all over CA -- at least one is arson and many more started by lightning strikes.
Looking over yesterday’s posts -- if you belong to religious organization or hold to a religious belief, then you are going to be hated by someone somewhere. That “someone” could be an individual, a groups of individuals, another religion, a country. It’s what we humans do -- we hate and sometimes that hate leads to murder and war.
Religion though is only one reason to hate. We are tribal by nature and tribes are always at odds with each other. Religion is just another tribal marker along with sex, gender, race, ethnicity, etc.
What a bleak view, eh?
Along with hate though, there is also love, tolerance, charity, empathy, rationality. And hope.
Who pays the postage for mail-n ballots? California has decreed that we can all vote by mail in the November election, and every registered voter is supposed to get a ballot although they will also allow you to vote in-person. I plan to go to the polls, but I think I’ll also seal and mail in an empty envelope to swell the ranks of disallowed ballots.
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, Mac, and Sven!
Sven -- good questions. In California, absentee ballots come with a postage-paid envelope. 16 other states also provide for free return of absentee or mail-in ballots. In the rest it’s up to the voter to affix the proper amount of postage. As to any possible change in the President’s demeanor, I have no clue.
You guys should watch this “deep dive” on Trump. This is by Adam Criggler who is/was a liberal cohost of Timcast IRL. Both these days now say they’re voting for Trump.
Adam was first, though; he decided to look into Trump’s policies and ideas and investigate all the claims about him to see if all the negative stuff was true or false. He discovered that not only were virtually all the negative claims about Pres Trump fake, he also found he liked the President’s policies.
The deep dive goes into The Donald’s family history and why he is like he is and does what he does.
Wow…Baily’s Beads in teh thread pic. 😉
Sunday greetin’s, GN.
I got nothin’ else; BBL.
Peeking at you.

101 here today and will feel hotter. Thunderstorms predicted at the same time this afternoon. Not uncommon here.
Do take care there.
You as well, Mac. We got rolling blackouts throughout the state -- the first time in like 20 years.
Da Comrade, central plannink elimyinate unnecessary duplication of searvice….
I remember those before we left. PITA.

Odd. No wind forecast for our area, but we are hitting 20mph gusts for the last hour. That’s not good considering the other conditions.

I’m curious as to how Trump’s demeanor may change after the death of his brother yesterday.

Funny when bikers in Sturgis are better behaved than antifa scum.
Must suck to be police and have to protect the antifa scum.
I wonder if it dawns on the antifa people there, that it is the police that they hate, that kept them from being beaten bloody or worse.
A very good story: https://quillette.com/2020/08/15/on-this-day-in-1945-japan-released-me-from-a-pow-camp-then-us-pilots-saved-my-life/
A very good story, indeed. Thank you, Sven!
