Still feeling like JimCo would have been better off if we’d never gotten that large job; it’s still a PITA. (Not to mention my neck and shoulders; had to call my doc yesterday asking for a cyclobenzaprine prescription as I’ve been hurting from stress since the first week of the job. Fortunately, Doc accommodated me and I’m doing a bit better this morning but the meds are making me more of a dullard than I normally am.)
On the plus side, our liability carrier rejected all four A/C-related claims yesterday, so I expect we’ll get sued…yay! (Under CA law, our carrier has to pay for any lawbaw we choose, and we have a damned good one we met -- albeit too late -- last time we were sued.)
Still don’t know when we’re going to get our final check (so Jim and I can have our payday); it was “due upon completion”, so these fuckers are in breach of contract…as they have been since almost all of our progress payments have also been late.
Good morning, GN! Happy Thursday!! I’ve developed a bad habit of using unnecessary !!! from working with a new hire, a young, peppy, girl that uses them on almost every sentence!!! It’s annoying!!!!
I stand corrected. After watching the Portland video again, the guy that was beaten was trying to help the tranny before he got back in his truck and the rest of the incident unfolded. I didn’t recognize him as the same guy. Sheesh on my part.
The water guys are coming back today to finish their repair work, which means no water beginning in a few hours. With advance notice though, I can shut off the line going into the house before they begin and that will cut down/eliminate the air in our lines.
Tatum has been hanging out in the house more than ever lately. Whereas pre-Chinese Flu he’d be gone most of the night and return around 6:00 AM, now he’s sleeping upstairs with us, only venturing out for an hour or two. He’s also become a lap cat -- weird. Spending so much time inside, I’ve been worried that he’s getting bored as he shows zero interest in anything in the house and ignores all the different toys I’ve tried to use to engage with him. Yesterday I bought him his very own cat tree and put it by the patio sliding door. Much to my huge surprise, he loved it at first sight. Jumped right up and spent hours looking out the window, then curled up in it for a nap. What a weird little creature.
Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Fatwa -- I’m sorry you and JimCo are having to go through this mess, and haven’t gotten paid on top of it! I remember being told, long ago, that the job of Accounts Payable was not to pay accounts, but to delay payment as long as possible. When I had my software business I ran into way too many companies where that was true.
Looks like our water department got the part in and fixed the pipe. I shut the valve leading into the house before they started working, so that kept our water from flowing out, but there’s a lot of air in the pipes yet coming up the hill so slow bleeds with the outside hoses.
Happy Thursday, GN!
Thread pic “heh”.

Shower, watering, and then to work.

Slow bleeds with the hoses is better than water hammer in your pipes!
Glad it got fixed, Sven.
