Especially boxers, so I hear, were just huddling in caves waiting for us to invent couches and central heating.
I heard about RBG’s passing. I’m never happy when someone dies.
That said, I think the conventional wisdom is that they’re going to rush an appointment through. Once it’s done, there’s nothing on that score that can energize the Dems, so really, Trump has nothing to lose by doing it. It’s kinda short notice, but… well… there you are. The president has strange luck, as per usual.
It’s not exactly like with Garland, because the senate and the White House are of the same party. My guess is that they’re going to appoint someone and just let the libs have a cow over it. Then there’s no possible judicial appointment waiting in the wings to energize them to turn out for Biden. It’s already over and done with. That’s my guess.
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8, and Sven!
Regarding the vacancy on the Supreme Court, I really don’t know how Trump is going to play this one. I’m sure he’s getting lot’s of bad advice from the go-along to get-along crowd.
Good morning, Paddy. I think he’s probably getting bad advice and I think he’ll go against it. The side that thinks if he holds off, “for the good of the country,” argues that the left and the media will like and praise him if he does so. We know that’s bullshit and so does Trump. The “do unto others” side is also mistaken as we all know that the left will never reciprocate in kind. Again, I think Trump knows that.
If Trump were a Republican, I think he’d hold off on nominating someone. But he’s not and never has been. Trump’s path is clear -- it’s the Republican Senators that are going to have to do some soul-searching.
I think I agree with you both. I was thinking they should wait, but I saw Dems using it as a campaign issue the first day, including my niece. If they are going to politicize this then taking the issue away seems fair. I also saw a meme reminding me what they did to Justice Kavanaugh. I think I would like to push this along. Let them scream and let’s expose the RINOs.
I’m sorry about your progress troubles, Fatwa. I’m glad the Board is currently cool, and I hope everything works out.
I think the winds that brought the rains brought a hint of smoke on it first. The first part of the day definitely had a *fire light* filter.
The earthquake didn’t wake me up either. 😉
Other than that, I start week five at the auto shop tomorrow, and it’s still good -- no Dread Pirate Roberts comments since that first week. The hours do fly by, and the people who come in are for the most part very nice (they do raise some very polite Southern boys out here). The only thing I’m really developing is a white-hot hate for cellphones. I truly hope the boss’ Internut provider has a VoIP setup available, AND he decides to get it.
Otherwise headphones are the only way to go -- especially when one kid is trying out his new Glasspacks on one side of the building, and by the door to the (mobile) office was the compressor for the texture they were spraying in what will be the new office.
Baby Jeebus and all the little children, that was LOUD.
On the RBG thing, G_d knows I don’t want another Kavanaugh extended theater piece. I agree with y’all: appoint one and let ’em scream. Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll all develop laryngitis.
One can hope, anyway.
I’m going to get back to Captain America and my crochet, y’all have a good night.
Mañana!

Should be funny, at least.
Good morning, Dv8. Trump does indeed have strange luck and I think that so far he’s been handling this just right. It’s time to choose, Republicans.

Happy cool(ish) rainy Sunday, EverGerbillyBody!
