When Jim Peterik (singer and writer of the above) had a solo album released in ’76, he came into the record store I where I was employed in Evanston (IL) as he was “Chicagoland”-based.
He was just doing some local promo and came across as a nice, normal and slightly self-effacing guy. (And, yeah, we had his album stocked and on a wall display because “local guy”.)
Based on that brief positive impression, I’m glad he’s had a decent career.
The annual California Charter Schools conference is this week and of course it will be held virtually. What that means is that I get to fit in conference attendance with all of the other meetings that have been scheduled for me. The conference platform doesn’t have any way of adding sessions to your calendar, so even though I’ve highlighted what sessions I’d like to attend, I’m not sure which ones conflict with other obligations I have this week. You’d think after a year of virtual everything that they’d have a better system than this. It’s not like the technology doesn’t exist.
Teh Younger was going to go whale watching this morning on the boat a friend is working, but the trip was canceled due to weather. A gale warning is expected to go into effect later this morning.
It’s interesting that medical professionals and experts like Fauci are concerned that Republicans or Conservatives are not thrilled with getting vaccinated compared to lefties. Instead of that, Facui and others should stay in their own lane and address the 30%+ of health care workers that say they won’t get vaccinated or have grave concerns about the vaccine.
Their argument comes down to MAGA types are anti-science -- that’s an easy pop and all the media will go along with it. The harder questions for the medical community are 1) How did they come to the conclusion that BLM rallies were not dangerous and 2) Why are members of their community less likely to get vaccinated than left-leaning dems?
If they want to promote taking the vaccine, then they ought to focus on their own people and not us. Glass houses and all that.
If you put a pair of wooden spoons or chopsticks on either side of the potato, it makes it easier to slice without cutting all the way through. The spoons act as a stop block.
Thanks -- I used some dowels. It was kind of zen/relaxing cutting them. Sadly, they are cooking in the toaster oven, so have to see how that works out.
Salad is made and a tri-tip in the oven. One thing I’ve convinced myself of during the lockdowns is to sear the trip-tip before putting in the oven. That might just be my biggest win of the last year.
Happy “Hairball In Your Boot Gang” Monday, Wheelizens! (Is their leader Sven’s bobcat? Enquiring minds and all that…)
Aside from the above stupidity, I got nothin’ else right now; perhaps moar caffeine is in order.

Also this cheap and obvious linkage:

BBL.
Cool. I’d forgotten all about this band. Good tune.
Didn’t I hear Tom Jones do a cover of this? If not, it would have been a good tune for him.
Happy Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!

Happy Monday, Paddy, Fatwa, and GNers everywhere.

Hi, Sven!
If Fauci, et al., did that, then they’d actually have to make an argument based on science, not politics.
Their argument comes down to MAGA types are anti-science -- that’s an easy pop and all the media will go along with it. I’m going to give Paddy’s Hasselback potatoes a try tonight.

Enjoy your tri-tip and potatoes!
I didn’t grill a single tri-tip this past year. I’m not sure what’s wrong with me.
Mrs Sven loved teh potatoes! Tri-tip was perfect! Salad was, well, salad.
Glad it all turned out well. I’ve found that adding some sliced tri-tip (or hangar steak, etc.) to a salad improves it greatly.
