Cheers for mentioning BAT; I’ll have to look into it. (I barely understand the concept of crypto currency; seems like smoke-and-mirrors to me, save for the fact that some people believe it has value and will exchange it for goods or a money.)
Good wishes re The Great Microwave Hunt!
Yet more JimCo-related stupidity this week; we’re pretty close to telling an HOA with which we’ve previously worked and with ~$250K of potential work to sod right off.
If I can make up for the sin of not investigating crypto 15 years ago, I’ll feel great about it. See, If I had braved it then, I would have shared it with you all, and we all might be much better off financially now. I feel very guilty about it. I could’ve not only helped myself, but also my friends.
I’m joining the majority here in saying I have no clear idea as to what cryptocurrencies are. I did read this article some time back, but it didn’t make it much clearer:
In cat news, some deer wandered through the park next door and Tatum was quite interested in them. He spent most of the day sitting by the fence waiting for them to come back.

Hi, Paddy!
Fatwa — sometimes you have to set fire to a customer.
Harper told me to investigate Bitcoin back in the mid 2000’s. If I had listened and mined or bought about 1000 bux worth, I’d be worth 50 or 100 million today.
She knew it was important. I knew she thought so. I couldn’t get it through my head why. She couldn’t figure out how to get through to me.
I can be hard to communicate with.
I am not a crypto expert, but I am now making up for lost time.
It’s more than just smoke an mirrors, I can tell you that. You can say the same thing about fiat currency. However Crypto has built in scarcity. For example with Bitcoin There will only ever be 21Million bitcoins. once it’s all mined, that is that. Each bitcoin is now worth about $60k or so. Crypto tends to be deflationary rather than inflationary. Much like Precious Metals. Crypto mining and registration is “Proof of work” much like digging gold out of the ground is.
There are others Etherium, for example, has programatic functionality and can be used to lend or borrow money without a middleman AT ALL; it’s built into the blockchain. The possibilities are vast.
Monero is a true privacy coin, and it essentially what people think Bitcoin is. However bitcoin’s transactions are transparent, so you can trace bitcoin exchanges between parties, whereas with Monero, the history is encrypted. You can verify that the provenance is true, but you can’t see the chain of ownership unless you have the private key of any former owner, in my understanding.
The reason I mention BAT, is because it’s kind of getting big, and yet is flying under the radar. It’s part of the Brave Browser universe, and it’s growing in value as more and more people switch to Brave.
If you like a lightweight browser, like chrome, brave is even lighter weight and you can block or allow ads, and you can click on special ads--most of them are tech related, at the moment, but I have seen many others--and when you do, you earn BAT.
But the sense I have is that, at this point, BAT is mature enough to buy. I would suggest using Uphold, because it links seamlessly with Brave, and is a good first online wallet/market for newbies.
So the current situation is: Once you have 25 BAT on a given browser, you can then transfer it from the local browser’s wallet to Uphold, but even before you do that, you can create an uphold wallet and buy some BAT or other crypto if you want.
Hi dv8!
I downloaded and installed the Brave browser on my home system this morning and I’m earning tiny bits of BAT. The browser is almost identical to the Chrome browser, but less of a resource hog.
I’ve also switched to dark mode -- we’ll see if that’s permanent or not. It’s definitely a change.
Oh yeah! I had been using “dark reader” on my browsers, but I forgot that recently Brave has introduced a dark mode. I’ve been using its darkmode on my phone and tablets, and I believe you can’t use addons under android or apple, but the built in dark mode is nice.
“Dark Reader” addon is a bit more adaptable, and you can tweak the colors a bit if the dark mode doesn’t work for some sites. I’ve been using it on the wheel for a while.
I’m still using it on the TOR browser which doesn’t have a dark mode.
So, once you have 25 bat you can transfer it to Uphold, but I’d recommend you create an Uphold account and play around with it. Link a bank account, buy a few bucks of BAT or other crypto, Just like Robinhood, you get instant uploads of some amount, I’m not sure how much. Robinhood gives you $1000, but I’ve never looked up the limit of Uphold. The instant deposits allow you to exchange stuff right away, so you don’t have to wait for the ACH debit to go through which usually takes a couple of days.
I have to do my hair, and I don’t feel like it. I’m still in the process of making the front dreads bigger, hence moving them all back a bit at a time. I’ve let ’em grow out a bit so I can do that again now, but I’m not feeling motivated.
If I do it in the right order it will accomplish a lot this time and the front ones may be perfect after maybe a time or two more of that. Not sure how long it will take to move them all significantly, but a few more times at least.

Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa!
dv8 -- I’ll have to look into BAT. Like Fatwa, I really don’t understand crypto-currency. Good luck with the new microwave. Installation is not fun.

Good afternoon, guys.

Hi, Paddy!
FIFY. 👿
Dunno why that previous comment posted as “Anonymous”.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There’s something fishy with the last wordpress update, to be sure.

Still using TOR The thread pic was visible, and now is not.
Checking the wheel on regular internet. Still not available on the open net at Suddenlink.

Well… Time to take a nap in preparation for the Big Route tonight.
