I just read about CA’s latest state-wide mask mandate; it’s never going to end out there, is it?
Today’s probably going to suck for me, given the SoCal rains combined with all of the customers who have put-off doing work we recommended…who will now be terribly unhappy that we can’t magically fix their leaks immediately.
Fatwa — if you ever had to do one of those asinine “privilege walks”, you’d confound them all by your placement.
I had to look up the specifics of “privilege walks”; my actions would require clarification of whether or not Joooos constitute a “race” and/or “ethnicity”. (I never know from week to week where we fit into the “oppression matrix”, as that seems to vary depending upon the current narrative.)
It’s nearly certain that I’d be adjudged to be hostile, uncooperative and disruptive. 👿
(Given how often I was vilified for pointing out many of the harsh economic realities re this carp not being “sustainable”, kindly ignore my gleeful cackling.)
Yep. It makes no sense for SCE to pay retail prices for rooftop solar energy when they have to turn around and sell it for far less, even giving it away or paying someone to take it. Once you reduce that subsidy, rooftop solar no longer pencils out. Who wants a 20 year payback on a product with a 20 year lifetime?
What a great idea! Now the State can stop prescriptions for anyone, or at least any legal citizen tax payer, who fails to comply with any and all vaccine mandates or any other diktat of the rulers. I have told others for years I thought this was one of the reasons for Democrats wanting government control of medical care. People will be more compliant if they find the State can withhold life saving care from peoples’ loved ones. We already see in UK and Canada that people who are over weight or otherwise not in compliance with State standards are denied operations or other care. I think I have seen Democrats propose denying or restricting hospital care to people who do not get the jabs. I just don’t understand intelligent, rational, people putting this much trust and power in the hands of these corrupt and venal politicians, and many of the same people complain about the corruption in government while pushing to give them more power and less accountability. They mostly think I just want my picks to be the rulers but I don’t want any of them to have that kind of power. I support politicians who advocate reducing government power, not ones who promise me a piece of the action.
Rooftop solar has never “penciled out” in CA (or likely anywhere else) sans enormous subsidies / tax incentives.

As re electronic prescriptions: Sven’s link had another link which indicated an exception for things like power outages, but it make no sense to me to complicate getting a damned prescription filled or refilled.
I have an ongoing scrip for Diazepam due to my back issues and up until recently in GA, I had to deliver a piece of paper to the pharmacy, because the dipshits in GA required that. (I’m old enough to remember when Valium was nearly as available as LifeSavers.)
I truly do not understand the “urge to rule” or control other people to the degree that most elected / appointed officials enjoy. It’s a sickness which I wish we could root out of our political culture / political class, but too many voters seem to liked it.
The desire to rule others is not something I understand either and yet it seems to be a mainstay of humanity. And something that we in America forgot about since the end of WWII.
Regarding generators, you can keep your old ones and apparently use them whenever needed -- the problem is going to be, like with firearms, if you don’t buy ahead of time and prepare, you are going to be in not good shape.
In terms of gas-powered blowers, I think they will just be outlawed on such and such a date.
I got no sympathy left for my state or those of us that continue to live here.
Rain has let up out here -- winds picking up but just cold and wet now.
The Help Desk at teh bestest place ever is working on my laptop -- it isn’t going well.
Starting to feel like winter -- going to be the coldest night of the year -- down to freezing maybe -- I know that’s not cold for the rest of the country, but it’s probably going to be FREEZE WATCH here.
Conniving Raccoon Tuesday greetings, Wheelizens!

Hi, Fatwa -- it is indeed raining here and for a change, raining hard and long.
Happy OMG it’s only Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
I swear this week is crawling along.
Fatwa -- good luck with the special snowflakes who expect you and JimCo to jump at the snap of their fingers.
Sven -- I hope the rains don’t cause any problems at the Mountain Redoubt.

Hai, Sven and Paddy!

Hi, Paddy.
I had a doctor’s appt this morning and the doctor was trying out a new electronic prescription app that didn’t work. Why not just write it out on your pad? Because a new law takes effect in CA next month where paper prescriptions are no longer allowed.

The entire Help Desk is having to work using only your laptop? No wonder things aren’t going well!

Be sure to bring your ‘coons in for the night and light a few smudge pots for that ole-timey feeling and to piss off the SCAQMD.
