I was reading about the tax gap -- the difference between what is owed and what is paid -- and if the govt can be believed, it is a lot of money. However, adding 100K more auditors reminds me of Deming’s admonition of not being able to inspect quality into a product. Perhaps they ought to simplify the tax code?
That’s an admonition that not one in a thousand (million?) government employees would understand -- which is part of the problem. Simplification of the tax code would mean fewer carve-outs for the monied interests. We can’t have that.
I wonder how many of those new tax agents are going to go after Al Sharpton. Didn’t he owe like several million or so? Or will they all be examining those $600.00 transactions?
Good morning, Fatwa -- praying for an Okay Day for you and Brenda -- no one deserves it more.
You guys were chatty yesterday -- have to catch up on that.
If Trump had an inkling that the FBI was going to raid his place last week, I hope beforehand he salted his document cache with all kinds of fun materials like an autographed picture of David Duke, a Day Timer with a note on 7/4 that he had a good conversation with Putin, and naked pictures of Pelosi.
Happy Monday Punday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Fatwa -- echoing Sven’s thoughts for you and BK.
At work, we normally have an end-of-the-year retreat to go over performance on goals, etc. This year, it was decided that it would be better to hold the retreat at the start of the year to plan for the coming year. That event happens today and tomorrow. I’ll be leaving in a few minutes and won’t get back online until tomorrow afternoon/evening. Try not to trash the place while I’m gone. We all know how Mac gets when he decides to rearrange the shavings.
I tried something with my eyes the last couple of nights. Instead of just gooping them up with ointment and hoping for the best, I set the alarm for 4 AM, which seems to be a safe time for my eyes, and then applied eye drops thinking that should get me through until I get up at 6 AM. It worked the first night, then this morning I did it at 4 again; woke up at 5 and did it again. Get up at 6 and yeah, no. Right eye dry and painful and blurry vision all day.
I did try two different types of ointment and will switch up eyes tonight to see what happens. I feel like a lab rat.
Monday Punday; go, Mac!
BK update: Saturday and yesterday were shitty days; better this morning.
HH-A update: Urge to kill rising again.
BBL.

Damn our current Congress and Administration.

I have long been a big fan of Deming.
Yeah, me too. You can learn a lot from that man -- just ask the Japanese.

Safe travels and have fun, Paddy.

Dv8 -- we think about moving but haven’t flipped the switch to actually do it. It’s a failing on our part.
Wow. This doesn’t smell good. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/08/just-gascon-dodges-recall-los-angeles-county-bans-observers-monitoring-recall-vote-count/
