Back when I was in college and thinking I had a wonderful career ahead of me and before I stupidly messed up my life, I had a course, the name of which I no longer recall, but The Rise and Fall of TD Lysenko was one of the texts along with Thomas Kuhn’s The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. Koestler’s The Case of the Midwife Toad was in there too.
got back from work this morning. Those hours are not too bad, really. I clocked out the pay period this morning at 64 hours for two weeks; it usually adds up to about 60 or more, give or take. Sometimes more, but usually about that.
I have a short night on Monday, say 4 -- 6 hours. And then Tuesday and Thursday night are the 12 ish hour shifts, so it could be a lot worse.
One problem I have is that when I finally get done with one of those long shifts, I really do not want to go right to sleep, even thought that’s what I should do.
Like right now, I’m doing laundry and running the dishwasher and playing skyrim, which is still my favorite game even though it’s 11 years old.
Glad this week is done. I kept a decent attitude all week up until about 11:30 today. Bah.
Trying CCleaner for hunting down duplicate files. 14-day free trial. So far seems to be working and pointing out things I can get rid of on this PC. Working on files first.
One thing I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t show you totals.
A very tiny apology, but I guess better than none.
Happy Friday, GN.
But they are tiny wounds.

I never got to college, I messed my future up earlier. Precocious!
But from your own accounts, you made something of yourself -- built your own career, skills, business. Not bad.
Thank you. I bootstrapped, but they were tiny boots. But cats love me.
The Lysenko story is interesting. I’ve heard several accounts.
When you understand the implications of the story, it is very frustrating.
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Mac!
Kittehs -- they look so cute and innocent, then attempt to rip you to shreds. After a tiny apology, they make another attempt.
Sven -- that sounds like an excellent course. It’s something that every faculty member of every college should be required to take -- and pass.
I think “passing” is now racist. An artifact of white supremacy and all that.

Slept late. Maybe I can stay up to watch DuckHK live on Rumble.
