In answer to the thread question -- because raccoons don’t drive!
Hoping to get lots of yard work completed today. I need to go down to the bottom of the slope and kill off some Brazilian Pepper Tree sprouts and pick up some litter left behind by workers at some point. Mrs. Paddy and I need to clean our fountain and get rid of some sod. We also need to pick up some 2′ x 2′ paving stones. Oh, and level out the gravel. We’ll see how much gets done.
Well, we’re not going to get the pavers, just yet. The cost would be about $2200 for 3/4″ porcelain pavers. Cement pavers are 2″ thick, which is too much, and more expensive.
Watching the Trump rally -- I see that Trump now gives a crap about the Jan 6 prisoners -- I’m sure that will be of great comfort to those still in jail awaiting trial as well as those that pleaded guilty to lesser charges so that they had a hope of getting their lives back.
You and me both. Few have even spoken up and none of them taken any meaningful action. God bless Julie Kelly over at American Greatness for digging and reporting.
As far as Trump goes, he didn’t do a damn thing. No money for lawyers; no speaking out about it in any meaningful way.
well…. I fell asleep early on Friday morning and woke up on Saturday evening. So lots of sleep, I guess.
I think I was rested pretty early on, to be honest. I think it was mostly recreational sleeping, as Harper calls it.
a few days ago, I brought home some fried chicken for dinner. I saved the bones and refrigerated the rest of the meat for sandwiches or whatever. Then made a rudimentary bone broth out of the bones and some old veggies I had in the fridge. The skin yielded some fat, but there was very little collagen in those bones, so I added some bacon fat I had saved and about 9 packets of gelatin per 6 cups of broth total. It took that many for the broth to start holding on to the fat. Normally 1 package per cup is enough on store bought broth, which tells you that even though you can refrigerate store bought bone broth without it jelling, there IS some collagen in it, just not enough to jell.
Anyway, It made pretty good ramen with a bit of pork bullion and miso in it. I’ve finally gone through it all. at this point.
I was too lazy to make my own noodles, but when I use the cheap instant noodles. I no longer use two packets of them, even though they’re very tasty. They’re just too carby, so I try to limit my intake of them, When I make my own noodles, I shoot for about 200g per serving (cooked weight). that’s just about right for a bowl of ramen.
Happy Traveling Raccoon Caturday, Gerbil Nation!

I’ve been very disappointed in all politicians for not standing up for the J6 prisoners.
