Happy Friday, GN. I’m done in this morning -- if I may whine a little bit?
Yesterday morning when I woke up I felt a slight rip in my right eye. Moderate pain for a few minutes and then I was OK although my vision out of that eye was shot. So did all the things I’m suppose to do when that happens and got through the day with mostly one eye. Went to bed last night around 9:30 and woke up an hour later with the worse eye pain I’ve ever had. That lasted about an hour -- on the plus side I only have one hole in a wall to repair.
I’ve been up all night -- I fell asleep for like 10 minutes a couple of times and each time when opening my eyes I had that object-in-the-eye feeling and a little bit of pain. Seemed better to try to stay awake and here I am.
In the five years or so that I’ve been dealing with this, this has never happened before -- damaging the eye an hour after retiring. And the kicker? My vision right now is still blurry, but better than it was yesterday.
Anyhow, wiating until 8:00 to try to get in to see my ophthalmologist. Not the way I thought Friday was going to go.
Hi, Dv8 -- waiting on doctor callbacks. Transplant has been discussed, but a friend’s wife is on her thrid one -- rejection issues. So I’m not so sure on that. A better option is a contact lens, but I couldn’t get the hang of them --
Happy “Judgmental Cat” Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and dv8 (and Harper!)!
Sven -- I am so sorry about your eye. I know you’ve been going through this for a long, long time. I hope your ophthalmologist can give you both relief and hope.
Thanks Paddy. They have twoo offices -- the one i usually go to here doesn’t have anyone today that can see me -- waiting on the other one to call back. Not sur eon next steps if that down’t work out.
It’s not too serious, really just tests, but they can only be done a few towns away. Pretty routine stuff, so no worries. Of course, life gives us no guarantees, but I’m not all that worried. It’s sleep medicine, related.
Good luck -- my brother has some friends that moved to Prescott and they like it. But anyplace out of California is probably likeable. Well, not everywhere, but…
Back from the doctor and I’m baffled. They fit me in, which I appreciate, but an exam revealed no cornea tear. Every time this has occurred in the last five years, the culprit has always been an injury/defect in the cornea and a lack of tears causing the eyelid to stick to the injured area and ripping it further. This time, no. There was a slight healed section, but that’s never happened before either -- healing in a few hours like a normal person.
No explanation as to what caused my problem last night. I have a contact lens bandage and another appt next week for a more thorough exam. I got nuthin’ but more worry as to what could have caused it. I guess I’ll wait and see what happens next. If it happens again, then the cornea is ruled out.
Thanks for the update, Sven. I’m glad it’s not another tear in the cornea. Hopefully they’ll be able to figure out what it was (and that it’ll be minor) and how to prevent it from happening again.

I wonder if you are a transplant candidate?
Is that a possibility?

Was it a soft, flexible lens, or something more rigid?

I made it through the long night.
I’m done for the weekend.
Next week, I have a medical thing coming up. I will be in Prescott for a couple of days. I’m taking a 12 hour sick day on Thursday/Friday.
So I’ll only be working Monday and Tuesday/Wednesday. It’ll feel a bit like a vacation, maybe?
Prayers for a successful medical event, dv8.

I think I’m still wearing my hoodie. I should get changed. I’ll be much more comfortable until I go to sleep.
I am so sorry, Sven. How terrible. You have been enduring this for far too long.
Thanks -- they can see at 1:15 toda y -- all I have todo now is stay awake until then.

Thanks for the good thoughts.
