I just discovered how easy it is to change the brushes in my Kitchenaid Mixer.
That being said, the brushes turned out to be fine. Plenty of life left in them.
So that means probably a short somewhere else was causing the failure. I don’t know if I want to take the whole thing apart considering I don’t have a workshop anymore. I have to use a folding table, I guess. There are a few points of failure on a Kitchenaid, The power going to the motor tends to be one of them, because the power connects to a moving part. The speed level moves this little gizmo in the back in and out, and the power is connected there, which sometimes leads to… well… the leads breaking off.
Also, there is one plastic worm gear which is plastic deliberately to prevent the motor from being damaged if there is too much of a load on the motor. That gear is easily replaceable.
I don’t know if I want to open this can of worms. I’m almost inclined to just by a new or maybe a refurbed unit. All my attachments will still fit, so all I need is the stand mixer itself.
by the sound of the thing before it died, I’m a bit afraid that one or more of the windings are bad. I don’t think I can rewind a motor like that by hand. Certainly, it would have to be a labor of love if I did so.
My childhood cat was not antisocial.
Don’t know why I’m telling you this….
Hi, Dv8 -- good morning, GN.
Happy Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and dv8 (and Harper!)!
I don’t know if the cat is so much antisocial, or if he just wants to look down on his subjects.
To go along with the thread pic
apt.
