A higher power often wakes me up.

Good morning, GN. What’s left of us, anyways.

A new job might be what you need, Dv8. Perhaps something pushing you as opposed to you trying to push yourself? There’s some positives if you apply for it and get an interview; it would give you a chance to ask your own questions and see if it would be a good fit. And if you do get an offer, there’s nothing that says you have to take it.

It’s odd, Paddy, and I have no explanation for it except that management is its own profession with its own set of skills and not something that just happens because you get a title. And yet any organization beyond a certain size seems to be run by idiots lacking commonsense while embracing the latest bullshit fads that have little to do with the actual job at hand.

I finished my first week with my new dept at teh bestest place ever. First impressions? Same shit, different day. I need to get out or accept it with good grace.

What’s annoying me this morning -- recipes on cooking sites. FFS, does it really take a full page, fifteen pictures, and a thousand words to describe how to make something?

Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), and Sven!

dv8 -- I think what Sven says makes sense. A new job may be just the thing to get you out of your rut. As to not being sure if you can handle the b.s., if it gets too bad, find another job.

Sven -- it’s the Peter Principle in action. Only in education it seems to be worse. People enter the field, teach for 4-5 years, then move to the admin side. Sure, they have to get an admin credential (taught by professors who have never managed a thing), then go through an “internship” where no one mentors you and you’re handed the unwanted tasks, but bad principals are harder to fire than bad teachers.

Mrs. Paddy and I are off to watch a baseball game. Our team is actually still in contention, which hasn’t happened in many, many years. Of course with so many players injured, who knows what the next +/- 50 games will hold.

Well, it wasn’t the result we wanted, but we still enjoyed the game. Our pitching was fine, but the offense was lacking.

Sven and Paddy:

I am a bit tired of living below the poverty line. On the other hand, the poverty line in this country is pretty high.

But seriously, I guess… maybe 40 years ago, I should have learned how to get a serious job, as well as some other things.

If I had it to do over again, I would have started smoking and drinking coffee in grade school, which would have self medicated me enough to be a good student (like I was in the late 90s/early 2000s) then, I would have been a business major in an ivy league school, most of the value of which would have been the contacts I accumulated there.
