Thank you, Sven. I found it interesting and enjoyable. I like to hear people adapt musuc to their style if they seem to respect the original, which he seemed to do. I don’t like it when an artist seems to be saying, “This is how it should have been done”.
I have not heard of him before and don’t generally like metal but I listened to this completely. (You should have heard me try to describe to Elena what Heavy Metal music was when we were talking about Christopher Lee.) I guess I should try entering it in You-tube and see what they present.
There’s so many metal genres now, some that really suck, that “metal” has no clear definition. The holy trinity of metal all had their beginnings in the late 60’s/early 70’s: Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest. But if someone asked me what’s metal, I’d play them Metallica’s Enter Sandman. Yes, metal purists still fume as what they see as Metallica’s sellout from their speed metal roots with the Black album, but as their drummer, Lars Ulrich, said in response: “Yeah, we sold out. We sell out every stadium we play at.” A cut you might find interesting when they played with the San Francisco Symphony.
Woke up early, because I had a lunch planned with a friend.
Work ran a bit late, but not disastrously so, so I got some sleep before I had to wake up. all in all, I feel pretty rested. I guess the new cpap mask is doing its thing.
Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good afternoon/evening, Sven, and dv8 (and Harper!)!
The retreat is over, it was successful, and a lot of good things were accomplished, at least as far as me and my project go. The format was more respectful of people’s time and need to connect with individuals and small groups.
Sven -- the guy who leads portions of our retreat and handles our yearly employee survey has been doing this for about 30 years, working with thousands of companies. I asked if he had ever worked with Teh Bestest Place Ever, but he hasn’t. Pity, it would have been interesting to hear his take.
Sven -- great cover of Amazing Grace.
dv8 -- glad you’re getting some good sleep. I slept horribly last night and woke up feeling like I’d been awake for 36 hours straight. Not good considering I didn’t over-imbibe and ostensibly got 8 1/2 hours of “sleep”.
Good morning, GN. Motivational video from Paddy’s retreat.
Worth a listen -very very good.
it’s Dan Vasc, isn’t it?
Yes. I’d never heard of him before today.

I did find and share some metal, including Metallica. I even found Lee’s music. Thank you.
So is “Head Banger” music different?
I so loney…
Cats always bring out the lurkers…

Welcome back, Paddy. I’ve never been on a retreat, professional, religious or otherwise. Sounds interesting.
