Well, that was a short trip. The battery in my car is dead. I charged it yesterday and drove it a bit, so I guess it’s time to get a new one. My car has a parasitic drain, but I haven’t been able to track it down, let alone fix it. I paid one shop a couple of hundred dollars and they said they *thought* it was in the after-market alarm system and I’d have to go to an alarm installer to get it removed. Personally, I think it’s in the factory remote access system. With the key fob on my body, I should be able to unlock either front door just by grabbing the handle. The driver’s side and hatch work correctly, but the passenger side will unlock if I’m within ten feet, which means if I’m walking near the passenger side, it will continually lock and unlock. I wonder if this is something I’m going to have to go to the dealer about?
Hi, Paddy -- that’s an interesting thought -- drain from activating the door locks. I bet there’s a lot of youtube videos out there for your vehicle’s make/model.
Just replaced the battery in my truck -- did get five years out of the last one, but it had a bad cell. Also replaced the radiator -- didn’t need to, but it is almost 20 years old and trying to be somewhat proactive considering the age of the vehicle. Holding on to this one and dumping some money into it is still cheaper than buying a new one.
I’ve looked off an on for videos that address my issue, but can’t find any. Most are about when the sensor doesn’t work at all.
At least replacing the battery was easy. I think the batter is about 20 months old, but I’m not sure. I took it back to Autozone and they gave me a replacement at no charge.
Keeping an old vehicle running is cheaper in the long run than buying a new vehicle. We tend to keep ours 15-20 years.
Ugh -- looks more overrun than cozy. Just saying…
Good morning, GN.
Bouncing through the intertubes this morning, came across this phrase: “politics is the negotiation of our shared lives.” That resonates.
Off to do chores.
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!
It’s going to be a hot one today. Glad I did the yard work yesterday morning.
Off to church. C y’all later!
