Happy Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!

The Executive Director of my school has decided to close the office for the last week of June -- essentially giving everyone that week off. The contract for my current position ends June 30 and I don’t go back to work in my new position until August 8. That means I have 1 1/2 weeks to finish my tasks, which won’t be a problem unless people don’t get me the data I need. It also means that there are only 1 1/2 weeks for me to hand over my responsibilities to my replacement(s). Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to happen, as I don’t know who is taking what portion of my job. I expect I’ll get emails in August asking me to train people. Meanwhile, I’ll be trying to train myself to use the various curricula that I’ll be working in.

How long is your contract? Are you an independent contractor or an employee? Good on you for being proactive and getting your own training done ahead of time.

I’m an employee with an annual contract. Our contracts run the same as the state’s fiscal year -- July 1 to June 30. Although for teachers, the start date is early August and the end date is the second week of June.
