The Ventura County Air Pollution Control District is issuing an Air Quality Alert because unhealthy conditions are forecast for Monday, June 17.
Smoke from the Post Fire is expected to cause the Air Quality Index (AQI) to fall in the unhealthy range for everyone. Measured levels of PM2.5, particulate matter with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers or less, have reached unhealthy for sensitive groups in the Simi Valley area with the potential to reach unhealthy levels for all in the overnight and morning hours. While the largest smoke impact remains near the northeastern portions of Ventura County, elevated levels of PM 2.5 are anticipated to increase in all locations during the Sunday overnight hours and into Monday morning.
Mrs Sven is more sensitive to this than me, or she can at least smell it better. This morning early she said she smelled smoke and I was like what are you talking about -- nothing is burning.
Good morning and happy Father’s Day to the fathers out there.
A blessed Sabbath and happy Father’s Day, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!
A good-sized brush fire burning 30 miles north of us near Gorman. Been smokey down here all day. 12,000 burned acres so far in 24 hours or so.
I hope you remain safe there.
Based on the weather and all, shouldn’t be a problem here for us. Temps are supposed to come down and winds aren’t much of an issue.
There is though, and it is quite smokey.
I hope you can keep your home closed and the air system running to reduce the concentration of particulates.

I think your Governor needs to mandate masks and respirators, doesn’t he? Can California citizens be trusted to make such decisions for themselves?
