A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!)!
I saw a clip of Biden’s public statement regarding the assassination attempt on former Pres. Trump. A reporter asked him if he thought this was an assassination attempt and he wasn’t willing to say so.
I also saw aerial footage of the rally sight and where the shooter was on a nearby rooftop. How the Secret Service, especially the counter-snipers, could have missed seeing him is beyond me. They obviously were able to pick him up quickly enough once he began firing. Why couldn’t they spot him before?
There’s a still a lot of questions surrounding what happened yesterday. Me, I’d like to know the position relative to Trump of the other victims, how many shots were fired, and the background/associations of the shooter.
The biggest question in my mind is how does this change Trump going forward?
We had dinner last night with two friends -- friends of more than 20 years. One of them mentioned that the rhetoric, on both sides, needs to be toned down. I lost it. The remainder of the dinner was not good as I seethed silently. Not a good night.
When I saw some CNN shill had criticized Trump for saying “Fight, fight, fight!” after being shot, to encourage his folks not to be afraid, I thought of all the calls to violence from the left, not obscure fanatics but mainstream politicians and public figures. Then I saw this on X this morning.
Of course remember the democrat that terrorized Trump’s daughter in law with her small children on the plane. And Obama’s calls for violence even before Trump.
The left have to edit or fake their claims of this from republicans. Says a lot. I guess civility is different when you are the only hope for democracy.
Praying for President Trump and our country. Prayers for the family who lost a loved one.
Amen.

Good morning, Dv8 and Paddy. Amen, indeed.

Remember this reasonable call for civility?
If it weren’t for double standards, they’d have none at all.
Melania Trump put out a good statement.
That’s an insult to double standards.
