Thank you. It is not up to the newer machines but it is well suited to my priorities. I like quiet, cool, and quick. It takes only a minute, or a few seconds under, from first pushing the start button to being ready to use, including entering my PIN number. It has space and connections for many HDDs, DVD burners, and USB connections. At first I just used the integrated graphics in the CPU but with my new 32″ monitor I felt it would be better to use a graphics card to take the load off the CPU. It is a low powered card but does fine for my use. I opened the case when copying was done in the early hours this morning, and put the new drives in place. I will use them for a while to make sure they are good, keeping the two 14TB drives in reserve. Once I am comfortable, I will transfer the data from the 10TB drive and smaller BU drives to them.
This should set me up for two or three years. My next concern will be either installing Win 11 on this PC or building a new one. This one should able to meet the hardware standards if I set it up right. I will look into it as I can. Wish I did not have to, I don’t like the spyware on Win 11.
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good evening, Mac, and Sven!
I tried posting from my phone this morning, but the hotel wifi wasn’t having any of that.
We made it home in a little less than 4 1/2 hours, which was pretty good, considering the traffic we ran into as we neared Dodger Stadium (they’re playing the Mets).
Good afternoon, Mac. That’s some impressive computer builds that you shared yesterday -- thanks!
