Yes, steroid injections into the spine. The first time it was one side but since then both sides. They don’t completely relieve the pain but they help. It becomes manageable with pain meds.
Many years ago, I had three herniated disks in my lower back and sciatica in both legs -- not fun. Steroid injects did no good. I waited 13 months before opting for surgery -- the pain was gone the next day. Funny how the body works and how tight the tolerances are between different body parts.
I’m glad Elena can manage with an annual shot and some pain meds.
Thank you for sharing that. I will pass it along to her. We know that when the shots are no longer effective, we will need to look at surgery. This is how it went with her knees. Injections of steroids and gels bought us a few years but replacements solved the problems. Both of Elena’s went well but her sister’s experience has been a nightmare, years of pain and additional surgeries.
Got a big empty box from teh bestest place ever this morning asking me to return my laptop and other equipment -- I walked everything over to them 3 weeks ago. Thinking about shipping the empty box back to them so they get another shipping bill.
Years ago, AARP kept sending me their join up letters. I started sending back their postage paid return envelopes after writing a request they stop sending them on it. When that did not work I starting tearing up all the stuff, including the original envelope, and stuffing that in the return envelope. That seemed to get someone’s attention and they stopped.
Are you sure you don’t have some nice heavy stuff like old catalogs or something you could return?
That would be different. I did play nice until they repeatedly ignored my requests. When I was getting regular mailings from a local Farmers Insurance agent I even contacted him to try and save him the wasted expense, telling him if Farmers offered me full coverage for free I would not take it. For the rest of my life Farmers will never get one cent from me. He expressed appreciation and the mailings pretty much stopped.
We used to like them, but only because our longtime friend was our agent and she handled everything professionally and quite competently. After she sold her business so she could take care of her mother, the new agents have pretty much sucked.
I never had them but I was hit by someone who did and I had to deal with one of their agents. When I had by business I needed insurance and Farmers was one of the few carriers, and was the cheapest. The agent who screwed me over cost them tens of thousands of dollars in business. I went with Hartford.
I was sitting at a red light on highway 17 going into Santa Cruz. I was on a motorcycle, a BMW R-75 that I had spent a year fixing up. A 1967 Ford Falcon hit me from behind doing 55 mph after leaving 134 feet of four wheel skid marks in a 25 mph zone. My bike was totaled. I asked nothing for medical or lost wages (I was going to work at a second job). I only asked for what I had paid out over the year on the Bike. I had receipts for everything and asked nothing for the over 100 hours I had into it. I did go to the doctor but had insurance so I asked nothing. The agent accused me of trying to cheat them and was very rude and careless.I had asked for $3,800.00. The BMW dealer they selected had estimated the damage at $4,300.00 or $4,500.00. They just totaled it and gave me $2,400.00. I talked to a lawyer but he said without a medical claim he could get me more but it would cost more than it was worth. He saved his company $1,400.00 at my expense but lost them tens of thousands in premiums (I never had a claim), plus I badmouth Farmers at every opportunity for about 45 years now. I hold a grudge about some things.
I see Trump is going on Joe Rogan’s show later this week -- hope it goes well for him. Knowing the relationship, personal and employment, between Rogan and Dana White, I hope Rogan lays nice.
Lord Jesus Christ, who slept on a storm-tossed lake, grant me the gift of sleep so that with a mind at peace, a heart at rest, and a body relaxed I may use my sleeping hours for healing and waken strengthened to renew my tasks with brighter vision, confidence and hope.

Good morning, GN. Mac, hope Elena is feeling better this morning and can hold on until her injections. Sciatica is no fun.
Happy Rent-a-Cat Tuesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven!
Mac -- I echo what Sven said about Elena.
Thank you both. I was happy we got the injections set up so soon, I thought we might have to wait until December.
Are these steroid injections or something else?

My brother and a friend are both looking into this for back and leg pain. https://med.uth.edu/neurosciences/conditions-and-treatments/spine-disorders-and-back-pain/radiofrequency-ablation/
With her sister they ended up deadening some nerves to reduce the pain but I don’t know the method. I will pass this along, thank you.

I always found it significant she was a dog person.
Or was that just something to do with peanut butter?
I threw up a little in my mouth.
As did Kiva.

I do indeed. Something to think about. I do like the asset management guys tho.

(I don’t like Farmers Insurance)

You’d make a good Sicilian.

Heh. The LA Times won’t endorse Harris.
That says quite a lot, when the far-Left LA Times won’t endorse the far-Left candidate.
Good night, friends.

Sleep well, my friend.
