Happy Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Mac!
Today is the last day of school before Winter Break. I spent a good deal of yesterday grading assignments for all of my classes/curricula. I wonder how much work students will get done today? I’ve already graded three assignments turned in since 5pm yesterday.
Some students have been scrambling to complete overdue assignments in order to avoid working over the Winter break. Others, don’t seem to care. Thus it always is.
On Tuesday, my principal sent out a Teacher Reflection Survey to all faculty, requesting completion by COB today. The first page was only your email address (required before you can move on), so I didn’t look any farther until yesterday. The second page was full of “what’s working? what isn’t working, what challenges do you face with the online environment?”, etc. OMG, this is going to take forever! I put it off until this morning and it was four pages of questions like that, including how is communication with your vice-principal -- as if I’m going to answer that truthfully on a survey with my name on it!
My principal is working on her EdD -- similar to a PhD in education, but without the requirement to do or publish any research (what Jill Biden has) -- and I figure this has to be an assignment. She’s never asked for anything like this before and is the type to leave this sort of thing to her VPs.
When you write, especially poetry or lyrics, you find that though you want metaphors to seem perfectly intuitive to the reader or listener, like these metaphors practically write themselves, you actually struggle to construct them. Then, once you review your work, you fall for the illusion of them being effortless, just like everyone else who doesn’t know how long and arduous the process was. It’s analogous to the Gell-Mann amnesia effect… kinda
Thread pic: Not very motivating.

Makes me nervous hearing this kind of story. Especially now that I work for a huge corporation.
The only Bob Dylan album I own and ever liked was Blood on the Tracks -- great song and a great cover by CDB from that album. (Bob Dylan Cover) The Charlie Daniels Band -- Tangled Up In Blue (Official Video)
Love that cover.
