Well… Hi… At work on a friday morning. Nothing particular to report.

Well.. No I take that back. I have things to fix, or have fixed. There’s this mysterious thing that’s been going on with my garage door for a few years, where when it gets cold enough out, the sensors get falsely triggered. It’s probably a connection issue, but I’m not sure. If you push the button or remote several times, the door will go down. Anyway, I think it’s time to have it fixed.

Happy “Thinking Cat” Friday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!)!

dv8 -- have you checked the optical sensors near the bottom of the door to make sure they are properly aligned? You could check the quality of the connections at the same time. Or, since it’s happening when really cold, then maybe the drive mechanism needs lubrication. Just some thoughts.

I’ve been thinking about it. I could check the wires also.

And if I warm it up in there, the garage door opener works fine. The sensors appear to be working. Both are lit up. But when the door stops when you try to put it down, and immediately goes back up, that makes me think it’s sensor related. I’ve tried lubricating it over the years, and it seems to make no difference. So I feel like it must be a connection somewhere that is affected by cold. LIke two contacts or a broken wire that disconnects when it shrinks with the cold. Or something similar.
