Good morning, GN. Hoping both Paddy and Mac’s family both have good news to report.

The winds have picked up out here. I can live with the power outages, but it’s the threat of fire that is worrisome. I’ve found myself more fearful lately than in years past because it seems like once one starts, there’s no stopping it. Losing homes or entire neighborhoods were the extreme rarity years back, but now it’s the norm. Also old age kicking in -- not as physically able to handle an evacuation as I used to be. Hopefully we get lucky again, but I’d bet you’ll be seeing a major wildfire in the SoCal area by tomorrow latest.

On the Mrs Sven front, this week is the first week in the last two months where she doesn’t have a medical appointment. One next week, then two each of the next two weeks. We still don’t have a clear diagnosis and probably won’t until February.

I’m sure you and Mrs. Sven can use the break from the medicos.

Just back from the market. Bought the last of the cheapest eggs they had at $7.98 a dozen. Everything else on the mostly empty shelves ranged from $11.98 to $13.98.

Winds have died down for the moment -- the worse is expected later now early evening and overnight. Subject to change, of course. Relative humidity is still fairly high at 25%.

Wow! that’s quite the scarcity pricing! Do you still have power? The winds we get are nothing like what you get and they were steady at 25 mph. I had to go outside and take down some lawn decorations and put away a couple of trash cans before they went rolling down the street.

Hey, Paddy. Still have power, but I wouldn’t bet on it staying on overnight. The winds are bad. I had to drive into the San Fernando Valley and the smoke from the Palisades fire, 20 miles away and way south, was fully visible. Odd, that. Would have thought with the way the winds are blowing that it wouldn’t plume up like that.

Based on CalFire, it looks like they have 3 air tankers fighting the Palisades fire. That’s great. With these winds I was afraid they would ground everything. Stay safe, my friend.

That’s good -- maybe they can get it under control overnight. SoCal Edison has started power shutdowns, but so far we are still up -- closest area shutoff is about 6 miles west.

Winds have picked up here with 48mph gusts.
It looks like all air assets have been grounded. There’s another fire near Altadena that is currently at 400 acres. Let’s hope they can control it before too many homes are lost.

Going to be a long night out here. No fires near us, but the winds are picking up now -- really blowing hard. Went out and gassed up the vehicles. Gathering stuff and organizing -- don’t plan on taking much if we need to get out. I fully expect to lose power in the next couple of hours and the worse thing is trying to figure things out in the dark.
