My neighbor, who lost her husband on the 31st of January, had her pipes freeze yesterday. She ran water through the night but turned it off in the morning, and it is coldest around 8AM. It hit 10 degrees this morning. So I got up early this morning and went to Walmart to get water for her and a heat gun. I suspect it was the cut off valve to the house. We cover ours as it is a weak point when it gets that cold. Waiting for her to get back from a lawyer appointment to go over and see if I can help. I gave her the number of my plumber, who is very good and honest. I hope she does not need them (in case the frozen pipe breaks or leaks) as I expect they are slammed now. May be an interesting day.
Watching videos of the return of Israeli “hostages” puts me firmly in the camp that wants to level everything in Gaza and turn it into one big parking lot. I don’t know what was really behind Trump’s insane desire to take over and rebuild Gaza, but I hope he’s rethinking that position.
Part of the deal was to “voluntarily” remove the residents of Gaza to other countries, bulldoze the place, then rebuild. This actually got other countries to consider taking in “Palestinian” refugees -- something that no Arab country has previously been willing to consider.
It’s a stupid idea. 1) It gets us involved on the ground in a region that hates us and from which we’ll never leave, and 2) the “Palestinians” aren’t looking for education, 3 meals a day, and jobs. All they want is to kill Jews and take over Israel. We should have learned out nation-building lesson in Afghanistan and Iraq -- it doesn’t work.
Even if other Arab countries take in 75% of Gaza -- and that’s more than a little unlikely as they don’t want this cancer in their own countries -- that leaves half a million behind that will be even more radical and dangerous than they already are.
Israel made a mistake in these hostage deals -- as hard as it would have been, they should have wiped out Hamas and their “Palestinian” supporters in Gaza and rescued as many hostages as they could. What they are doing is just setting the table for another Oct 7 five years down the road.
Another major Hamas terrorist attack in Israel -- luckily no one killed due to the incompetence of the terrorists. It’s probably the same people that left the pipe bombs on J6. Israel has to respond so all bets are off.
I was there for almost three hours. After about two hours a faucet in the garage started to drip so I thought it was working but then it stopped. I gave up and told her I was going. As soon as I got home she sent a text that her water was working normally again. I guess the water was restored but the garage faucet froze as it was in the 20s with the door open but the water was good in the house. I was tired but it was worth it as it will not get above freezing today so it might be Sunday or Monday before the lines thawed. She has a heater in the garage now and will keep the water running tonight. It should be in the mid 20s tonight so I don’t expect trouble.

Good morning, GN.
Hi, Mac -- It does feel that way at times.
Sure Happy It’s Thursday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, and Mac!
I hope all y’all are doing well, all things considered.

Mac, you’re a Good Gerbil.
Second that.

There’s no dealing with these people.

Agreed. The “1000 terrorists for one dead hostage” deal is a guarantee that more hostages will be taken -- and murdered.

Hopefully the U.S. won’t try to hamstring Israel again.
The 51st state is getting hammered.
Kash Patel confirmed. Good.
Good news, thank you. I thought it was going to fail.
Got her pipes unfrozen. Heat gun for the win.
Excellent. Hopefully there was no damage.
Nice. Good job, Mac, and more good on you for helping her out.
