Ave Gerbil Imperatur, morituri te salutant!
Good day, Mac, and Sven!
Ides be watchin’ me back, if ides be you! And on the heels of pi day, no less!
Mrs. Paddy and I found ourselves coming home from an event at 10:30 last night and hadn’t had any dinner. We did what we almost never do; we hit the local fast food drive-through. I could tell I hadn’t eaten fast food in a while when I looked at the prices. OMG! How can anyone afford that!
Didn’t the liberal experts like Robert Reich tell us everyone would be happy to pay a few cents more for fast food to provide a living wage suitable to support a family of four to those high school students working their first job? But they were the experts, so good they never needed to work a job or meet a payroll.
So now out in California, fast food workers earn more than the minimum wage and high school students with no experience are priced out of the job market.
I always laughed at that irony. I believed if restaurants could have raised their prices and not lost business, that they would already have done it, without giving raises. But the ones who claimed businesses were selfish and greedy were thinking that those same businesses were keeping their prices lower than needed just to limit their profits?
As Paddy noted, the prices out here are completely outrageous at fast food chains as well as pretty much every other restaurant. Maybe Newsom will address this on his next podcast.
Heh.
