Since last year, ground squirrels have been on our good list and they get some bird seed every morning along with the birds. The other day I was watching and saw what I thought was a small squirrel poking its head up from a hole in the ground and then ducking back down. Turns out it was a vole and oddly it will dig a hole in the ground near where the seeds are, then fill it in and dig a new tunnel the next day.
A friend of mine texted me this morning. He said there was a “large unscheduled boom at work”. That’s never good. On the plus side, there were no injuries.
