You know, I thought and I thought and I thought some more, trying to find some silver lining in Sven’s comments from yesterday because they SO closely mirror my own.
But I can’t get there. I hope to add “yet” to that statement. Maybe, just maybe, a spark of sense will break out.
We’re off for the visitation of one of the founders of our VFD. So perhaps that’s adding to the downer mood.
Or the @%$^%ing heat.
“Feels like 108°” should be a readout on my &#^%^ing oven.
Well we know from history that collectivism leads to collapse. This country was one of the very few that had a revolution that brought more freedom and liberty to its population. We even eradicated slavery in less than 50 years, which virtually all the founders wanted to do even in the beginning.
But historically, it’s collapse or reversal. (and historically reversals don’t happen much, so the smart money is on collapse) But… We are very different in this country. All of us. So I’d put more money on reversal than I would on any other country.
Good morning Sven. I hope you are feeling better. I also try to keep up all our hope. What a clumsy sentence that was…..
Rush Limbaugh always said “we are winning” and he always tried to remind us of this.
The radical split in the left is an indication that they’re falling apart.
It takes a lot of time to organize a bunch of riots and such, So they should run out of steam soon, then there won’t be money for another round for a long while.
Good morning Gerbils!! Our internet is STILL out, It’s been out for about 24 hours or more. a day and a half. …. Actually, I haven’t checked it again this morning. We’re just using our cell phones/tethering. It’s a pretty good backup, in any case.
I could stream on my phone like a Twitch Thot, if I wanted to. I actually did it a few times in the past. I may do it today, who knows?
I only have 400k upstream, so it’s not so good
Still doing the “Big Route” ™ in addition to my regular job.
Also finally got the Stimulus Check. Harper’s came right in the beginning, but mine arrived a few days ago--I had pretty much given up on it and figured I had fallen through the cracks.
Also…. The Dreadlocks are finally done. I had a small bit to go, so I decided to push thorough on Saturday and make a day of finishing the last 4. I thought they’d never get done. Total number is 76. I had about 100 or so last go around, But I made the ones in the back much larger. They are more self maintaining that way.
Also, Harper still goes with me on the big route when she can. She usually ends up going on part of it, at least, but I take her home if she’s not feeling well.
A blessed Sabbath, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, TeX!, Sven, and dv8!
We had some friends over to watch Hamilton, then dinner, and fireworks. We can usually watch several professional displays from our backyard, but this year many of them were canceled. To make up for it, there were many smaller, neighborhood displays involving some rather high-quality fireworks. People must have been spending their stimulus checks on fireworks this year.
The only negative was some kids you shot a few “things” up the hill from their backyard towards a neighbor’s backyard. Whatever they shot didn’t go very high and were filled with something other than black powder. Black powder is a low-explosive and makes a deep “boom” sound. High explosives create a pressure wave that travels faster and results in a high pitched “crack” sound. This was somewhere in between.
The local news reports on the beach closures sound almost sad that people stayed away from the beaches. The few surfers that were drawn to the massive swell were castigated in the news reports.
I know lots of people who think they had it back in January, before we were talking about it. None of them are willing to go through the effort and cost to get the antibody test, though.
Our internet is still down, so relying on phones and tethering. We used to have the phone company as a backup. Att or CenturyLink or whatever they’re called now.
Our AT&T does not go down often as the cable did but it can be out for days, and calling them to find out if the problem is their equipment or mine is a pain, so being able to connect my desktop to the internet through the phone, using a USB cable is a nice benefit. It has gone down at bad times when I needed connectivity so it is worth it.
Mrs. Paddy actually went in to church this morning. They stream two services, live with the odd pre-recorded bit, and she monitors and responds to comments and questions in the chat. She can do that from home. Today, after the second service, they’re having a drive-through communion, so she’ll be handling the chat at the church, then helping distribute the elements. It will be interesting to see how many people show up.
Good Sabbath, GN!

Time to make myself presentable.
BBL.

X, I also wanted to say that I’ve felt so privileged to be able to chat with you on the wheel in these latter days. I feel like a saint. Get it? heh.
Man, that’s a lot of cats!
Good morning, X, and happy Sunday, GN!

And I still don’t know anyone who knows anyone who has the virus.

That’s got to be annoying.
