Made more Fish Soup. Harper Loves it, I tried using a frozen seafood mix. It seems to have come out just fine, although i haven’t really eaten any yet. Just tasted the broth to make sure it came out okay.
Teh Younger and I love fish, Mrs. Paddy and Teh Older will eat only milder fish, preferably grilled, but even then only once in a while. Although both of them will devour scallops.
So I ended up putting it in the blender on liquefy, and putting some (more) half ‘n half in it (to keep it liquid) Needs a bit more salt, but Harper gives it the thumbs up. Good for dipping french bread in.
I don’t know if We’ll get though all of it though, I probably have to freeze it.
The frozen seafood mix is not a good idea. Although it did impart a deliciousness to the broth. Most of the “bits” are too chewy, and the imitation crab in it just tastes like dumplings--which isn’t horrible, but it’s not real protein, probably. I was trying to compromise and save some $$$, but I think I’ll have to go with real fish next time. I’m going to be eating a lot of this soup. Maybe I’ll give this batch away or maybe I’ll mince up the chewy bits in it.

Gotta plan out the menu for the week (I don’t think Fish Soup will make the cut) and clean out the fountain. I’ll probably have to run out to Trader Joe’s.
We discovered moar construction defects this week: copper A/C refrigerant lines running just below the roof decks over four units where nails can puncture them. As you might imagine, this has caused much foofraw and butthurt.
Definitely not up to current code and was almost certainly not code in the early ’80s when this place was built.
Fortunately, the Board “gets it”, so we’re not on the hook. But it has been another preposterously stressful week. (Glad I get to head home next Saturday afternoon.)
We now know what to look for on the remaining buildings and will charge accordingly for the extra work (assuming Board approval for the additional charges).
On the plus side, we continue to exceed the customers’ expectations; the Board seems to be tacitly assuming we’ll be back next year to do the other half of the place. Which is nice, but I’m not exactly sure how I feel about that right now.
(I told Jim we ought not work there next year without seeing a certified death certificate for one particular homeowner, Oddly, this is not the individual I was granted “the nuclear option” in dealing with. That jackass has been fairly manageable. Because I’m a fuckin’ “people person”.) 😉

I wish I could get Mrs Sven to like fish -- she’s adamant against it. Took 20 years to get her to try lobster.
