Happy New Year’s Eve, Everybody!! It feels like 2021 is going to be worse than 2020. But hey… who knows.
I’m not too sure as to my “Big Route” schedule this evening. We may be able to start early, like on Christmas Eve. I had some help with the mail so it all went fast this Xmas; here’s hoping new years will be the same. I still haven’t heard anything so as of now, the schedule is going to be normal, as far as I know.
Harper went with me on Wed morning. We had a nice time listening to music, and talking about musicology and stuff, among other things. Circle K now has an “Extreme Hot Chocolate” (caffeinated) which is great if you have migraines and love hot chocolate. So Harper loves it. We usually get it for free because we’re the “paper boy.” They also have these awesome hotdogs with pepper jack in them.
Oh yeah, and we have a new vehicle to use on the route now. The Elder Newspaper Patriarch recently sold a couple of our older vehicles and bought us a 2021 Buick with some serious bells and whistles. I wouldn’t call it “loaded,” but it has a lot of cool stuff on it. It looks like a larger version of our Kia. I keep wondering as to the name of that body style that you see everywhere these days. I think it really is just called a “hatchback,” but there is something about the specific shape and that little rear spoiler they all have.
I want to call it a
“RUNABOUT” ….
If I had any influence, I’d try to make that catch on.
It has a proximity fob instead of a key, so you can start it remotely an warm it up, which is nice.
For some reason the Elder Newspaper Patriarch saw fit to add a SiriusXM subscription to the car and an OnStar subscription which includes a data plan so the car even has WiFi !!11! (the Wifi is good and so I don’t experience the cell phone dead spots from my phone. I’m not sure if the data is satellite, or goes off the cell towers (or both.))
Re SiriusXM: This is my first experience with Satellite radio, although I had cable radio back in the day--kinda similar in some ways. Our Kia has the SiriusXM capability, but I don’t have a subscription. There is a “Patriot” station that has a lot of Righty, pro Trump, conservative and Libertarian content. So that’s pretty good, I guess. It has like: Mark Levin, and Stacy someone, who is new to me, but who is pretty fun to listen to. She’s like… a black girl who is a Libertarian leaning Conservative. Talks about a variety of issues.
Glad to read about the new Buick runabout (see…you’re an “influencer”); hope it makes your job easier and/or more pleasant.
Also delighted that Circle K is plying Harper with gratis caffeinated cocoa; iz nice.
Also tickled at the thought of you two driving around while imitating Karl Haas. 😉
I’ve got no experience with SiriusXM, but suspect it’s not something I’d be willing to pay for out of my own pocket even in the event of a massive lottery winning. (Which, alas, has yet to occur.)
Wonder if our local festivities will include the midnight dropping of a Brobdingnagian flaming bag of dog shit.
Sure Happy It’s (the last) Thursday of 2020, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8, Harper!, Fatwa, and Sven!
It’s another beautiful day in paradise and the government has ordered us not to gather. I thought there was something in the Bill of Rights about that, but I’m probably mistaken.
San Diego has a confirmed case of the UK version of the Chinese Lung Aids. The victim hasn’t traveled, so that means there are more cases out there that haven’t been identified.
dv8 -- glad you got a new work vehicle. Enjoy the new features!
DV8, enjoy the new wheels! As to why the owner went for the satellite radio, doesn’t that allow them to know where it is, and where it has been? I don’t know much about these as I never had it. That would seem worth it if it does.

Anyway, this post is turning into a novel… so….
Okay… Gonna try to sleep in preparation for this evening.
Happy Last Day of Hell Year Zero, Wheelizens!

BBL.
Good morning, Dv8 and Fatwa -- happy Thursday, GN!
Mrs Sven has Sirius and loves it and I don’t think it’s too expensive like $75 annual? Some decent music channels.
No work today, so time to figure out what to do.

Let us hope not.
Hi, Mac!
Let’s hope not!
Just a tip for when someone fills their gas tank.
I may resemble that remark…
Hi, Sven, Paddy and Mac!
An early Happy New Year to you and yours.
We’re having a quiet evening; coffee, fresh coffee cake and half a Valium for me…wooooooooo!
Fatwa Arbuckle -- living the life!
Happy New Year to you and the lovely Miss BrendaK.
