Morning Gerbils! It looks like I successfully flipped my shedule. Which, of course, will make next week a challenge, but at least I’ll be able to get a few day time things done. Harper and I both have stuff to do, so it’ll be easier. Of course, I’ll be a bit more tired at work, but well…. there you are……….
Anyway, now We’re curled up with the fireplace roaring, watching more of “Blacklist.”
I feel like it’s jumped the shark a long time ago, but still, it’s fun.
GoodWifeK has sort of done the opposite this past week and gone largely nocturnal; the coming week’s gonna be a wee bit rough for her, I think.
Then you’re missing out on that wonderful accordion sound.
You mean the bellowing (SWIDT?) of their violent destruction? 👿
It’s wonderfully odd to me that norteño has such a heavy Deutsche polka and waltz component. It’s sort of the musical equivalent of a blütwurst taco slathered in sauerkraut and (exceedingly bland) guac on a pumpernickel tortilla.
(And yeah…I’m keeenly aware that most of the non-classical musics I enjoy are an equally unlikely melange of European and African -- partially filtered through the Caribbean -- styles with some uniquely American pissantry to hold the whole thing together. But still…)
I agree in re norteño music. It’s polka music with gritos instead of yodeling.
I’ve seen pastrami tacos on the menu at quite a number of places and have even tried them. I find it a great way to take two tasty items -- tacos and a pastrami sandwich -- and ruin them both.
Happy 1st Caturday of 2021, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), and Fatwa!
I finished the fireplace surround that will cover the existing brick on the fireplace and have a nice reclaimed wood mantle. Now that it’s in place, but not nailed/screwed in place, Mrs. Paddy has decided that the wall needs to be covered in shiplap. That shouldn’t be too tough of a job, except the wall bows out in the middle, meaning I’ll need to shim the wall before installing the shiplap.
