Sorry to read you’ve got to replace your whole HVAC system but glad it’s a) “do-able”, and b) you’ve got a good company to work with.
We replaced our entire system ~4 years ago (from the original 20+ year-old which was not in good condition). It was a big hit we’d budgeted for but got a fair deal. The new system is significantly cheaper to run and the “coverage” is a lot more uniform throughout CasaK. (Much less of a temperature gradient between upstairs and downstairs.)
Given that GA’s longish summers are hot and muggy (like breathing soup sometimes), it’s been a goodness.
Glad your vendor’s able to get your new system installed so quickly. (And hope their techs are as pleasant to have working at your home as ours were.)

I don’t recall ever seeing this “Far Side” when it was in syndication. (It really, um, resonates with me.)
Echoing Fatwa -- glad you are getting a new system installed, Mac. We had central AC put in 4-5 years ago and I don’t know how we survived the previous 20 without it. Am thinking about re-ducting, but then we ought to replace the attic insulation as well. Something to ponder.
Got my teeth pulled yesterday. Apparently a good decision even in the short term as there was massive infection under one of them that didn’t show up in the x-rays. Bone grafts and a lot stitches -- not a fun time and I’m back on percocet and thankful for it.
Been up since 2:30 -- will try to get some work done. It’s days like today that I’m happy not to have to go into the office.
Happy Shakespearean Bee Wednesday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Fatwa -- I never knew about the “suck” adjustments on a sound board.
Sven -- glad the teeth extraction went well -- and that your decision was the correct one. Hopefully you’ll be feeling much better, soon, with the infection gone.
Thanks, guys. Sadly I forget to bring the teeth home with me so no visit from the Tooth Fairy. The surgeon was quite giddy over one of the teeth and took pictures of it -- I was out of it somewhat as she tried to explain what got her excited -- it was either the nerve or the infected tissue surrounding the nerve -- that looked to her like a mermaid’s tail. When I looked at it, the whole tooth and its “tail” looked like a headless fish…maybe.
Obviously they’ll have to increase that amount to keep up with inflation. That ought to be part of the bill now so that they don’t need to address it later.
Ventura’s median income is about $34K, so as long as I make less than $68K, I can get free money!
Bee grateful it’s Mid-Week Day, GN!
Heh.
Also, “Hi, Jerry!”
Mac --

Sven, sounds like you did well to get the dentist work done. Not nice right after but sounds much healthier going forward.

They also drew blood from me and did this Platelet Rich Fibrin treatment: https://www.trucaredentistry.com/blog/how-dentistry-is-benefiting-with-prp-and-prf-processes/
First time for me -- have to see if I notice quicker/easier healing.
I’m supposed to get another tooth pulled, but after yesterday’s experience, I may put that one off until next year.

$1000/month for everyone over 18 who makes less than 200% of their county’s median income? What are they going to do when inflation hits?

BTW, great thread pic, Mac.
I wonder why kosher salt tastes better than non-kosher salt.
It’s the blood of Palestinian children that adds that extra spice.
Bummer. Much like the Academy Awards, I missed biden’s big speech.
Stupidly, I just read the transcript. F**k you, Joe, Dems, lefties, and progressives everywhere.
Was it a transcript of what he actually said or what he was supposed to say?
OK, I read about half of it. I can’t take anymore. He sounds like Oprah giving away prizes, but using someone else’s money.
