Nah. I’m with Sven; I think Trump’s just trolling. Because he can. (Hell…if I were him, I’d likely do it, too. So I could point and laugh at the predictable foolishness.)
Our first really sustained heat wave of the year begins today with temps topping 100, but high winds not expected. Still, fires will break out somewhere because they always do nowadays.
From a technical writing blog that I frequent -- a post about returning to normal that resonates with me.
“I’ve heard a lot of advice about taking what one learned from the pandemic and using it to enrich life upon re-entry. So it bothers me that I can’t latch onto anything more tangible here about pandemic learnings. The pandemic opened our eyes to the challenges of finding balance between working from home and figuring out a routine, separating family life from work life, and becoming productive without getting burned out. It allowed us to see the larger context of our colleagues (as their families blended in with work). And with everyone working remote, this leveled and democratized the playing field among traditionally in-office and remote workers.
Still, that “aha” moment about some grand insight about life, myself, my family, or something else has yet to materialize for me. Perhaps this will only become apparent in hindsight, after the pandemic period has fully ended. Right now, I just want to return to normal, and to remember everything I seem to have forgotten.”
I think for some people the great truth that they’ve learned is that they don’t have to be a slave to a long commute and sit in an office to be productive. For others it might be the realization that the education their kids have been getting is crap.
Thinking about the future, I agree with this sentiment “It’s been said here many times that Donald Trump was not our last chance, but theirs, our final fair warning to our failed elite from back when, at some level, we still thought the ruling caste acknowledged that we normals had at least some theoretical right to participate in our own government.”

Started the morning with documents, signatures, and emails for the family business. As Mrs. Paddy and her sister said, it’s time to rip the bandage off.
Watching Biden and the leftist responses everywhere about Russia makes my head ache. As far as I know, Russia hasn’t killed many Americans in the last 20 years; China just killed over half a million Americans and yet Russia is the country we need to worry about?
As far as China and covid go, there’s enough evidence suggesting it came from their lab and was released accidentally or deliberately. Unless China comes up with evidence to the contrary, America and the rest of the world ought to act as that’s the case. Guilty until proven innocent.

We’ll see how much howling today’s actions cause. Today is rip the bandage off day; next week it’ll be time to debride the wound.
