Sorry to read you’re having trouble with the mail machine; hope someone can sort that out for you. (I find malfunctioning equipment extremely frustrating; especially when it’s something essential to getting a task completed on a timely basis.)
I see that Jen Piss-Hockey (H/T AoSHQ) admitted at a presser yesterday the White House is, in fact, working with Facebook to censor stuff they don’t like.
I wonder if we’ll ever know who’s running our mush-brained feeb of a fake POTUS.
Brad Raffensperger -- GA’s SecState -- has suddenly admitted there were big problems with the election count in Fulton County. Yet, that rat-bastard certified the election. I’m assuming that some serious malfeasance has been uncovered during the audit…beyond what’s already been (sort of) made public.
I’ll be curious to see the results of AZ’s audit, too.
“For the greater good, by all mean necessary, if it saves one life” is becoming govt’s operating philosophy, Fatwa.
There was a report yesterday that the AP did an audit of AZ votes cast and found only a couple hundred bad ballots. Haven’t come across a good takedown on that yet, but from briefly reading their story it doesn’t seem like they took a deep dive into anything.
The more pundits and Biden people that jump into the “vaccines are good and safe and everyone must get one” boat, the more I’m second-guessing my decision to get vaccinated.
Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, dv8 (and Harper!), Fatwa, and Sven!
Sven -- you brought up some good points last night regarding misinformation, which ties in with Fatwa’s comment this morning about the government working with social media to censor views they don’t like. This administration is becoming more authoritarian day by day -- even, dare I say, fascistic. Yet those who spent the previous four years screaming that Trump was an authoritarian are strangely quiet. They don’t care about authoritarianism, they just want their side to be in control. Control of the narrative, followed by control of speech is a proven method to take control.
Interesting. We have been fighting this enemy for a long time, or at least this enemy has been around for a long time but only has begun to win in the last 10-15 years. I’m still flummoxed by the “why” of it.
I remember watching live coverage of the Ruby Ridge hearings during the day, and then seeing the distorted and biased news coverage in the evening. It brought home to me just how far in the bag the press was. And that was 25 years ago.
But didn’t those seem like one offs, Mac? Thinking back to the Rodney King trial 30 years ago, I was struck in the same fashion: watching the trial every day and then seeing the news coverage disconnect from what actually occurred in court that day, did show the bias and the slant, but I never would have guessed it was that prevalent.
Sven, I have seen this progressing for a long time, though it seemed to really start taking off under Clinton. He subverted the government institutions, making Federal law enforcement agencies into political police, and rather openly bullying the press to comply or risk being shut out of the Washington social scene. Then when Bush won in 2000 and got such support after 9-11, the left went into panic mode. The gains the Republicans made under Obama that led to Trump winning showed them they could not count on winning elections anymore so they went all in on cheating, however openly they had to do it. It was a desperate move but the far left has jumped at the opportunity to establish their beach head and hold power. It is a naked power grab but they may get away with it. The Republican establishment joined them, seeing an outsider like Trump as a greater threat to their power than the hard left, which will let them survive as long as theyt are compliant and subserviant, just for the appearance of an opposition party, without any real resistance. Conservatives and patriots must be purged or at least silenced though, they have shown they are dangerous.
Sadly, I think the time to stop them may be past. They pretty much went for openly cheating the elections and they got away with it. They have four years to consolodate power and a submissive and conniving media to help.
It’s a power grab to what end? Why are liberty, individual rights, natural law, etc. such a threat and so unseemly and evil to them?
And is it worse now because an entire generation has been raised on those beliefs and that generation has grown up and now sits in the driver’s seat? Or has it been this bad all along and we are only seeing it openly now?
I keep thinking about Maslow’s hierarchy of needs… It fits in here somewhere.
The ruling class see the workers, producers, taxpayers, as livestock. They are a necessary burden to support the patricians but they can be a nuisance and a threat if they start to think for themselves. The most satisfying arrangement is to have them worship you as their rightful master and believe they need and depend on your guidance and wisdom. Every ruler who wants this tries to take the children away from the parents for indoctrination and conditioning. A ruling class that freely uses force and violence, official and condoned, to force compliance and suppress opposition or even objection, teaches kids that violence is never the solution, that all answers are found in the State and the leaders. The left has always been envious of religious faith, even when they use it. They want that devotion and faith for themselves. They want no false gods being allowed. People conditioned to worship the State willingly give all to the State, and turn against anyone who dares express doubt. It is not loyal opposition but heresy and blasphemy.
I guess I don’t see it as sudden. I think I have watched it creep, walk, and then surge forward most of my life. I did not recognize it when younger, I tended to be confuse the government with the Nation, as so many do now. I did outgrow that but I do remember it, to my embarrassment. It was hard for me to adjust to the idea that patriotism could mean opposing the government, when it moved outside it’s lawful authority. I am far past that now. The move to seize power is inherent in human nature, as is the tendency to complacency and wanting someone to take care of us, mommy and daddy, or wise master, or a President who cares “for the children” and will do what we need. The founders recognized and expected this and tried to give us warnings and the tools to protect our hard won and unique freedoms, but they could only do so much.
Sorry for my uneducated rant. The more I learned about our founding the more I marveled at the wonderful and unique opportunity we were given, and the deeper the pain and sense of loss that we gave it away so cheaply. I feel like we sold our birthright for Sandra Fluke’s free birth control, though it happened long before that. When I read Animal Farm it really hurts.
The Frankfurt Commies landed at Columbia University in 1914. It has been downhill ever since. The lag in response time of freedom loving people to these evils is often over 50 years, sometimes only 20 or so, some times even more than 50. We can’t conceive of such evil actually existing. It is what makes us vulnerable.
I know I mentioned that our next door neighbors fled CA yesterday, but another funny anecdote. They took one of their vehicles in to a local mechanic to have it checked out before the trip and were told that theirs was the sixth vehicle they had looked at that week for the same reason -- people leaving CA.
Evening GN. I think I overslept again. This is a bad precedent. I was going to get up earlier and go grocery shopping. Well… Maybe tomorrow morning. I’ll still be up, I guess.
Y’all have made a lot of good points. There will always be people who wish to exercise power over others -- some to fulfill their need to dominate, and others (a minority) who honestly believe that they know better. In the past, I think our balance of power has blunted a lot of the power of these authoritarians. As Congress has slowly ceded power to both the Executive and Judicial branches, we’ve seen an increase in the impact of these authoritarian desires. The SCOTUS no longer slaps down Congressional overreach, as Congress no longer passes laws to curtail judicial overreach. Lack of transparency and the lack of a press interested in investigating malfeasance, regardless of party, have allowed individuals and groups to exercise outsized control over our government leviathan. Citizens -- and others -- have gotten used to government handouts and no longer ask what is best for the country, only what is best for themselves.
Hey Paddy. It’s pretty amazing actually how resistant our system is. But nothing is invulnerable.
We’ve been sending our kids to government indoctrination schools for 70+ years. It doesn’t even matter if most students get red pilled at some point in their lives, the Marxist hordes don’t need you for your entire life, If they only have you for 10 or 20 years… that’s enough to sway things in their favor.
Even Clarence Thomas was a radical marxist when he was young.
Pretty much slept through Saturday after the Big Route.
The problem seems to be the mail machine, which is taking me more and more time to coax to completion of the run.
I thought I had something else to tell you all about, or ask you. But It seems to be out of context for now.
Caturday salutations, GN!

Something interesting I found on AoS.

Seems like yesterday. I remember those hearings.
Sobering, but not shocking, sadly.

My truck hit a milestone today -- 150,000 miles. Hope to keep it to at least 200,000.
ever since about 1995 or so, cars have ben lasting much longer. So at least some things get better.

Well…. it’s been over a week since I haven’t been able to get on the wheel except by TOR or other means. Maybe the thingy is fixed (knock wood)
