A friend of ours, a VietNam vet, was an engineer at Nestle. He told this joke to a co-worker:
“What do you call a Vietnamese guy with twenty dogs?”
“What?”
“A rancher!”
He got reported to HR for telling an offensive/racist joke. In his defense he grabbed up another engineer that was Vietnamese who said yeah, we eat dogs over there and if you got twenty then, yeah, you’re a rancher.
He was still sentenced to sensitivity training.
Hi, Fatwa, and Dv8 -- up to Canto 11 of Dante’s Inferno -- hell is not a nice place to be and forever is a long time. It makes me wonder if after death if I was given the choice of just non-existance or judgement, which one would I choose?
In this morning’s edition of don’t judge me, I took out a slice of pizza from the refrigerator and before putting it into the toaster oven to reheat, I smeared some bacon grease on it. In my defense, it was just a little bit.
When I make bacon, I usually make the whole package and after eating, say, two slices, put the rest in the fridge. It’s the same mess for a lot more bacon.
I remember someone on here was talking about doing it in the oven with parchment. I’ve tried a number of oven methods, but never that one, which probably takes longer, but is much less of a mess, plus you can save the grease, Which I use for a variety of things.
When it come to bacon grease, it goes well in a Ramen Broth if it has plenty of collagen (gelatin, essentially) to suspend the fat.
I have a quickie version of Tonkotsu broth that I make with store bought bone broth, gelatin, and Bacon fat and/or lard and/or butter if that’s the only fat you have. That’s not a recipe, mind, just a general description. There are other ingredients. But it comes pretty close to the real thing, but in a fraction of the 2 days time it takes to make the real thing.
Federalism was the cure for this type of problem. If the federal govt stopped trying to run everything, there’d be less of a problem. Don’t like Texas? Move to Washington.
Unfortunately Federalism ran head-long into politicians’ and bureaucrats’ lust for power and lost. The 9th and 10th Amendments have been merely words on paper for far too long.
Happy Cat Pugloafurday Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Sven, dv8 (and Harper!), and Sven!
It’s another hot one, but hopefully cooler than the last couple of days. I probably need to make a run to Home Desperate, unless I happen to have some fasteners I can use to hang a plantar on stucco. Of course I also have to see if I have the right size masonry bit. And hope that there aren’t any studs in the area that I’m mounting the plantar, because it would be too much to hope to have studs in exactly the locations I need.
I got the plantar hung -- not really what you think of as a plantar, but wasn’t sure what else to call it. The stud finder returned ambiguous results, so I found some tapcons of the right size that I had on hand (which meant I also had the right sized masonry bit) and drilled holes in the stucco. If there was wood behind the stucco, the tapcons would be able to drill into the wood. I there wasn’t, they’d still provide enough strength for this purpose. Nothing behind the stucco. Installed the tapcons, then tried to hang the plantar. I had previously routed out a couple of keyhole slots in the back for mounting. No go. I couldn’t get both screws into their respective holes. You know the old carpenter’s saying, “Measure once, cuss twice”? Yeah. The holds were 6 1/2 inches apart. I put in a level line, found the center, then measured 3 1/2 inches from the center. Doh!
With the holes in the correct location, it wasn’t too hard to get the plantar mounted.
What’s for dinner, eh?
Happy Saturday, GN.
okay : )
Caturday greetin’s, GN!
Hi, Sven and dv8!
Those are some very furry-lookin’ -- and just plain wrong -- loaves; well-done!
Was able to get up-to-date on JimCo carp yesterday; thanks for all the kindly wishes.
HH-A HOA should have gotten our Demand for Arbitration by now; I fervently hope it’s creating a weekend brouhaha for the bad actors on the Board.
Fark ’em.
BBIAB.

The truth doesn’t matter -- only the feelings of the (mostly) white leftists who want to control you.
I think being accurate or true makes it worse in their minds.

I never read Dante, but I did read “Inferno” the sequel written by Niven and Pournelle

How was it?
It helped as it wasn’t a great pizza to begin with.
Then it was a win and a good thing.
I don’t do things with bacon grease but I eat leftover pizza and bacon, cold. Elena disapproves on both counts. I like fried chicken cold as well.

I’ve been seeing more and more articles about the coming civil war like this one: https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2021/10/01/new-poll-shows-large-number-on-both-sides-of-aisle-favor-seceding-into-red-blue-states-n450924

There’s an excellent article on the Haitian immigration problem and how it came to be over at Vodou Economics: https://vodoueconomics.substack.com/p/how-did-30000-haitians-get-to-texas?

Nice job.
Nice. I have some wall mounted lamps I have to put up. A way to get the lamps off the bed stands.
Good night everyone.
This was mostly a good day!
