Ooooh…it’s also Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples Day. Which strikes me like a bad “crossover” teevee show such as “The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones”. 👿

Hope they don’t have to pull teh plug on your power due to winds today

I’ll be curious to learn what really caused all of the cancelled Southwest flights over the weekend; the “explanations” I’ve seen don’t seem to make much sense.
Sure glad I’m not one of the stranded flyers. (Something I worried about during all three L.A. trips last year.)
BBL.

I wonder how you would celebrate indigenous peoples day? Do you go to an Indian casino?
Today we are under our first Public Safety Power Shutoff warning in several months. Ironically, Newsom signed into law Saturday a bill that will ban the sale of new gas-powered generators by 2028.
Anybody know how long the permitting process for unicorn fart-powered generating plants takes in CA?
I see Governor Pomade also signed a law banning the sale of small two-stroke engines (for leaf blowers, edgers and who knows what else) in CA by 2024, IIRC.
Where’s all the electricity for charging those tens-of-thousands of environmentally-friendly lithium batteries (which are absolutely not made by using child miners to obtain the “conflict minerals”, nosirree!) going to come from?
Where will CA dispose of those batteries when they wear out?

Happy Tripping Monday, Gerbil Nation!
Good morning, Fatwa, and Sven!
Indigenous Peoples’ Day? Who is indigenous to North America? We know that the major tribes conquered tribes who were already occupying land, and that the first inhabitants were colonizers.
Good luck with your power today, Sven.

So, when the power goes out due to the stress caused by high winds and too many electric cars, we can use what to power our homes?
One of the new hybrid pickups has electrical outlets to power lights, tools, etc. You just have to hope that the power comes back on before your batteries drain.
Winds picking up -- should be a blustery and dark day tomorrow -- power is still on, but I expect them to cut it soon or at least before dawn. Chilly, too. Dropping down to the low 40’s.
Some of Gruden’s transgressions: “Gruden calls NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a “faggot” and “clueless anti-football pussy.” He also told someone to “suck my dick.”
Just terrible. Grab my pearls. I’d bet my life’s savings that words like that have never been uttered by anyone on a football field ever.
I’m starting to think that these bigwig football execs. Are exposing their own off color comments so they can take their golden parachutes and retire early.
If I were an exec of any kind, I might consider the same. You parachute out a rich man, as Gordon Gecko would say, and then … fukkem.
Time to start the Monday Shift. A new week. A new day.
Yesterday, I made so much potato soup that I gave a bunch to the Sisters we had as guests; and today, I gave even more to a couple of friends. And I STILL have way too much.
I should post that recipe on here. I thought I already had, but I guess not. So I’ll do that in the next couple of days.
Gov. Noisome has signed into law a bill that will outlaw small, IC engines used primarily in gardening -- think leaf blowers, lawn mowers, and trimmers -- Jan. 2024. This will also affect chainsaws. I once had an electric chainsaw. It was better than a hand saw, but absolutely sucked in comparison to a regular, gas powered chainsaw.
Happy Feline Tripping Hazard Monday, GN!

I loved it when the Jetsons met the Flintstones. It was awesome. I mean, I was only like 8, but still!!!

Hi, Sven!
How? 😉
(Also: heh.)

Nothing says “white privilege” like reliable electricity.
I wonder if our elected officials will be willing to check their privilege?

With the right wiring and stuff, we could plug our electric vehicles into our house and use those to keep our lights on, right?

California can’t be the stupidest state in America, but it has to be in the top 3.
Drive-by:
Hi, Paddy!
If you install solar panels all over your electric vehicle, it’ll just charge itself, right?
And that’ll work even better if you mount a wind turbine on it, too…that spins as you drive and generates even moar electricity.
Just add additional batteries to store all of that extra power…
RISE UP AGAINST THE OPPRESSION OF ENGINEERING AND THE LAWS OF THERMODYNAMICS!!1!
Another woke scalp taken -- Jon Gruden fired as Raiders head coach over year’s old emails.
Winds picking up -- should be a blustery and dark day tomorrow -- power is still on, but I expect them to cut it soon or at least before dawn. Chilly, too. Dropping down to the low 40’s.
I’m watching the Dodgers game and the winds are whipping. It should be interesting to see how this affects the pitching on both sides.

Update: Apparently he resigned, not fired.

Still on TOR.
