Love teh thread pic. And good call re dv8’s (and Harper’s!!1!) breaker viz. their new HVAC.
dv8 --
The yay for a new comfy couch!
And doubly so for your new HVAC. We replaced our original developer-grade system 3-4 year ago and it made a ginormous difference in both our energy costs and the comfort level at CasaK. (Even the fan is much quieter while blowing a significantly higher volume throughout the system.)
Glad that Harper was able to accompany you on part of the Big Route.
…Harper really needs it to be very cold so she can solve the unified field theory…
Damn the lack of room temperature (or body temperature) superconduction!

Still no response from the mediation company as of 5:00 p.m. PDT yesterday.

Happy Caturday, Gerbil Nation! Now with moar power!
Good morning, Fatwa!
Mac -- I second Fatwa’s good call on the HVAC. I remember my dad getting phone calls when a piece of computer equipment went down. Some of the first questions he’d ask are “Is it plugged in?” and “Is the power on?”, usually followed by “How do you know?”. You’d be amazed how many times was a lack of power.
dv8 (and Harper!) -- congrats on the new comfy couch and improved AC! Like Fatwa, we replaced our old unit about 4 years ago. I’m not sure how old the previous one was, but it was not new when we moved in in ’91. We only replaced the condenser, not the entire system, so we didn’t get the most efficient system on the market, but the change was dramatic. We’d hardly run the old unit because it didn’t get very cold and was so expensive to run. Now we don’t worry about it and our electric bills are lower.
Good morning GN! Hello, Fatwa, Paddy, and Mac -- I see Dv8 and Mac were quite chatty yesterday.
Went out last night to the Canyon in Agoura to see Geoff Tate -- a very good show with very good sound. Los Angeles has, to the best of my knowledge, a mask mandate in place for all businesses or clubs. The Canyon was reasonably packed, maybe 500 people. Maybe a dozen people wore masks. Waitresses and busboys were masked; bartenders were not. No checking of vaccine status at the door. No one is taking this bs seriously anymore even out here in SoCal.
This guy seems to know his shi* and is entertaining because he’s competent. Worth watching and he’s got a lot of videos up on interesting maritime topics:
Glad to see that you three were in-step regarding punnery; no loafers or flip-floppers around here, eh?

If I understood the guy in the video you posted: we’re pretty much farked for (at least) the near term re our maritime shipping. Behold the wonders of gummint hacks and goonyuns!
But hey…no mean Tweets from Demented Uncle Choo-Choo, amirite?

So was that kind of the last word in shoe sizing?
*slinks off*
I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I’m cobbling together a response.
Put some sole into it.
It’s on the tip of my tongue.
What heel started this nonsense?
It is rather a knotty string.
All it took was for someone to prime the pump. Mac makes a pun and some else will slingback another. It’s the perfect platform.
I blame Fatwa, his word bespoke to me.
One of the movies I got from Netflix today, The Cobbler 2015
Double the effort because shoes come prepaired.
That’s terrible but I won’t judge as I haven’t walked miles in your shoes.
Thank you. I try to be straight laced.
I thought about shoehorning a comment in on this sub thread, but then I decided I didn’t have the sole for it.

Yes, we are, and it’s mostly because those in charge consider “infrastructure” to be about saving the planet, feelings, and social programs.
